Good afternoon, everyone. Please excuse my change of name: this is Cho Hakkai.

I appear to have reappeared. Although I don't want to give undue hope to anyone who's recently lost a god or shinki, I'd like to announce that my classes will be continuing as usual.

To those who were living upstairs at the school the past few days, I expect you to help me clean up the mess. You know who you are.

[There are animal cracker crumbs everywhere.

And apart from that he's just not going to mention the events of last few days. At least he wasn't an actual child, but....]

Does anyone have an idea what might have caused it? I'm certain I felt something in the air for a few hours before it happened.

There are the other Gods of Fortune to keep in mind as well. Benzaiten, Daikokuten, Ebisu, Fukurokuju, Hotei, and Jurōjin.

[Hakkai-san, pls. It’s not a joking matter…]

I just don’t like it.
I get this bad feeling about Loki or the guy calling me out on the BBS reading that and getting some stupid idea in their heads.

But I guess I can’t stop everyone from saying whatever on the BBS though.

Is! [The response is immediate and sure] When of age, leave home and explore. Can join other clan or make own after, but it is important to have companion and to have children. But, big clans need strong mermaid to lead. More mates, stronger the mermaid.

[Oona's quiet a moment and then looks off with a feigned disinterest] ...Sorts of things not important to me anymore, of course.

Have not found out! [It's said cheerfully though] Eh, do not like some cakes... Some sweets too sweet. But, will try anything! I like food.

[If she fills her stomach she can fill the emptiness of her soul.

Okay no, not quite that dramatic, but who doesn't like good food?]

If there is one thing humans can do right, it is food.

I see. I haven't had the opportunity to meet any of them yet. I suppose they're busy with the mortal world.

[But he may have to keep an eye out, if they're also important figures in the Heavens. Failure to engage with the newcomers doesn't mean they aren't useful contacts, after all.]

With all the upheavals, it only makes sense as to why some of the older gods find it difficult to greet some of the newer reincarnations. If there was one thay I would suggest contacting, it would Ebisu, but unfortunately he has just been reincarnated as well.

[It's something he'd heard from Yukine, months ago now; but that isn't something he feels like admitting so obviously on the network.]

That explains why he's not greeting us...

I'd love to know what caused this. Apparently, it's not something that's happened before in the Heavens.

Yes! Strong mermaid can provide for many mates and many children and keep them safe. Long ago, clans might steal mates for themselves, but it is not so much like that anymore.

Still, should be see as strong. And means there is lots of food to provide. Also, men will have long hair. Is one thing to have many mates, but if hair is short, means you can not protect them all from being grabbed, so they cut short to avoid it.

[Oona nods as if in agreement with herself.] Is why hair is so long, now. [Her child-self had sported short, bobbed hair as well] So long, but can protect self. Shows am not afraid of it being grabbed, because can fight.

[It's certainly strange logic, but it is a sort of logic, and Chikusa finds himself following it fairly well. There's an element of practicality, except, once you become powerful enough, practicality isn't too much of a concern anymore...]

So you'll keep your hair longer over having a lot of mates...?

Yeah, and I wonder if the people in charge know. If they know and don’t say, or if they don’t know at all. Knowing what caused it would be pretty good to make sure it didn’t happen again.

[Oona looks tempted a moment, but her smile manages to be both sly and cheeky]

[She's quiet a moment, trying to figure out how exactly to respond]

...Is just... game... [She mumbles, but that's not exactly an answer-or at least, it's not one that makes sense. She rests her cheek in her hand and looks off, feigning disinterest now]

I do not lie. Refuse to. [So she's mildly irritated when questions are asked that she doesn't particularly want to explain] I will not have mates. Is not a thing I can have anymore, will not allow self. So, will grow hair long and shove it in faces of everyone who will try to hurt me that they cannot, because I am not afraid anymore.

Hm... Maybe it only makes sense to me...
