[ As the feed clicks on, it shows a young man with totally stylish and gravity-defying dirty blond hair in a black cloak sitting in some kind of papasan-style chair with an acoustic guitar in his lap. Demyx lazily plucks away at it, strumming out what sounds loosely like Modest Mouse’s “Float On”. ]

So, I finally did it!

[ Pausing from his strumming, he holds his wrist up the camera way too closely, turning it this way and that. ]

Look! See? No more name! Which means no more god. And no more work, no more training... which means no more gross sweating. Ew.

[ Seriously, call him when it’s winter, please. He pulls a face, but then sits back again and resumes strumming, picking back up where he left off. ]

Bishamonten says I’ve gotta get a new one, but maaaan... [ He sighs heavily, shoulders slumping. ] I just don’t wanna, yanno?

[ In truth, he’s still a little bummed that Riku basically shot him down. Now there was a god he could’ve gotten behind! But, oh well. He’s not going to mention that, or let it weigh on him much. Just means more vacation time for him, right? Right! Except... ]

But she says if I don’t do it myself they’ll just stick me with someone again. Someone who might not like me, like last time.

Man... can’t I just like, hang out here and play music, and not do combat stuff? I’m totally not comfortable with it anyway...

[ Demyx is a little surprised by the video clicking on suddenly, but it’s good to see Izuku’s face again, nevertheless! ]

I have god-friends! But they’ve all got shinki of their own, no room for me.

[ And the only one that didn’t is a no-go. But at least he can say he tried -- which is a landmark achievement for an underachiever like Demyx! ]

Huh? Yeah! He just didn’t seem to like me, that’s all. We didn’t talk, we didn’t hang out... it was a huge bummer.

Other shinki said I was gonna start, like, stinging him if things didn’t get better. And they weren’t, and I didn’t want to sting him, so I asked him to release me, like-- [ he can’t remember their name right now ] --someone told me to.

So he did, and now I'm here.

[He's a little busy stirring the pot.]

...? A god can have multiple shinki, there shouldn't be much of a problem there?

Not at all? That sounds like it would be really lonely...

[He hums thoughtfully.]

If you can't find anybody, I can take you in. I do take fighting prayers with Todoroki, but you don't have to join us for those if you don't want to.

I know, because Sora has, like, eight-hundred or something...

[ But really just three. Or so last Demyx heard, meeting the new addition to create the trio. ]

But it’s hard to ask a god that’s already got a shinki like, ‘Hey man, you want another one?’

[ He waves his hands in front of him, left to right. ] I’m not comfortable with that.

[ There’s a moment where he begins to go back to strumming, but nearly snaps a string when he hears those words: “I can take you in”. ]

Whaa--? Really?? You mean it?!

[ That is to imply he hasn’t found anyone yet, yes. Cue him leaning forward toward the camera itself, all bright smiles and aquamarine eyes that practically twinkle. A god that will take him and not force him to fight?! Someone pinch him, quick!

Of course, as a weapon, he’s not even sure what he’s capable of, having never been used even in all his time here. He only knows that he’s been on a prayer before that involved music, and that he’s “not comfortable” with fighting, as a general rule. ]

I didn't think anybody had that many other than Bishamon...

[Hup, he's picking up the pot and dumping it into the strainer. Those are definitely noodles, soba noodles.

It's kind of endearing how excited Demyx is to find somebody.]

Yeah. It'll be safer for you if you have a god and I have a lot of space in my temple. When we do take prayers it's usually in the afternoons.

[ Demyx laughs. Bishamon’s got quite a few, to say the least; he’s never lonely here! ]

Yeah, both of ‘em said they can’t take on any more... But at least I’m staying with Bishamon until I find a new home.

[ Kind of like a stray dog.

...A very musical, very loud, lazy stray dog. And while he wants for naught in her care, he’s getting hungry all over again, seeing those noodles... ]

Wow... so you’ve got like, a whole schedule and stuff?

It's nice of her to help you out like that.

Mm, yeah. Saturday and Sunday are break days and we just do whatever during them. The week is usually filled with prayers. The last one we took was "I want a puppy."

You can come over if you want. Plenty of apartments to chose from.

Yeah! She's a pretty cool lady!

[ He sounds momentarily distracted, and that's likely by the food. Nevertheless, the tunes back in (~~pun lightly intended?~~) at the mention of coming over. ]

Awesome! I'll totally come over!

Ah, right -- I should probably meet your other shinki and stuff, huh?

She is. She's very helpful and nice.

[Now the water's running and he's waiting for it to cool off so they can have lunch.]

Right. We can have lunch together if you'd like.

[He's pretty sure he made way too much soba for two people anyway.]

[ He didn't expect her to be at first, but yeah, she's really saved his bacon, all things considered. ]

Lunch? Count me in!

[ He's up out of his seat, off-camera for a second as he puts his guitar up. Though... maybe he should bring it?

Nah. He can come back for it.

The chains on his coat jingle as he mills about, clearly ready to be on his way, but uh... isn't he forgetting something? He leans back into the feed, probably way too close. ]

Oh yeah! So, where's your temple, anyway?

It's a four-story apartment building, not far from the Meeting Hall. I'm on the second floor, the apartment on the farthest right.

[ That's... some weird temple. But okay! He's on his way! ]

[ He should probably write that down. Oh well. ]

Right!

[ He'll be there! ...Eventually. ]

[Depending on how long eventually is, they might not be eating lunch anymore.

Still, there's an extra plate set out for Demyx whenever he gets here.]

[ “Long enough” is only the time required to knock on a couple of incorrect doors and that’s all, this time, luckily enough. But, for whatever it’s worth, the extra runaround does give him a little more time to think on the decision at-hand.

....pffffsh, like he needs it! A god that is more or less already a friend, a god that feeds him, and a god that won’t make him fight? Where’s the downside? This is almost as much of a no-brainer as Barry signing him into the band! He’s so in!

And so, following his nose, he arrives just as they’re finishing up. ]

Ah, hey there!

[ There’s a plate set out, untouched -- for him?

Best. God. Ever. ]

[He opens the door and takes a step back, letting Demyx into his apartment. The house cat looks at Demyx for a moment before scrambling up the cat tree and continues staring at him. Not quite sure what to make of the stranger.]

Nice to see you in person.

Your food's on the table.

[ Oh, he's fully aware of the food -- arguably more so than the cat is of him, even. Don't have to tell him twice! ]

Mmrf! [ He nods, and swallows an oversized mouthful visibly. ] You mean again, right?

Ah, hey -- so how was the Greece food?

[He absolutely remembers being that hungry after training with All Might. He doesn't mind it.]

Yep.

It was good. We mostly had ice-cream there, but it was really good. Smooth, high-quality stuff.

Kuchan, what're you doing? [ Comes Shouto's voice as he's coming in from the bedroom for the kitchen, pausing when he sees their cat peering intently elsewhere -

Even as he's reaching up to coax her into his hands, he follows her gaze, pausing again when he sees Demyx. He heard them talking, but still. ] Oh, he's here.

Ice cream!? Man, I'm totally jealous!

[ And he looks it for a second, until he hears someone else. The shinki?

Oh man -- one look and he can tell this guy's cool! ]

Whoaa... it's like you have two faces!

[ ...aaaand that's how he's going to introduce himself, apparently. Real winner, this guy. (But at least he's well-meaning.) ]

[... Oh boy.]

This is Demyx. Demyx, Todoroki.

... I... hope you can get along?

[ With a plaintive miao, Shouto collects their calico - and together, they make a perfect half-n-half pair, looking Demyx up and down.

Kuchan doesn't make a face, but the shinki does. ]

Sure. [ To Izuku. Then, ] Demyx.

[ Even if things have a rocky start, at least Izuku can be assured it won't come to blows with Todoroki -- Demyx will absolutely haul ass in the opposite direction before he'll fight this guy. He looks super tough! He's not comfortable with fighting someone super tough-looking!

At the rough reception, however, he blinks innocently (enough). Was it something he said? ]

Todoroki? [ A single, resolute nod. ] Right! Got it!

[ Realistically, it might take him a bit before he's actually "got it".

In the meantime, he'll... drop the whole two-face thing for the moment. Though his curiosity is still kinda killing him. ]

So you're, like, the fighting shinki, right?

[The fighting shinki... is not exactly how Izuku would put it, even if it's a bit true.]

Todoroki's been my partner for the longest amount of time. We've been together since about the end of April. So we've done pretty much everything together.

[ Honestly, calling him the fighting shinki is less offensive to him than pointing out his appearance. When Hajime did it, she'd caught him off guard, and it was a little less... well, she was Hajime about it. This sort of ruffles his feathers.

But he comes into the kitchen with the cat, putting her on the counter so he can fill a dish with some of her food. ]

We've done a lot, true, but I do prefer the more combat-oriented prayers.

[ Hey, don't get him wrong -- he thinks the whole split-face thing is heckin' cool! He just wants to know where it came from, that's all. He's a curious sort, after all; and also an impetuous dork with little brain-to-mouth filter.

So, perhaps to alleviate that momentarily, he takes another oversized bite, thankfully swallowing before he speaks again.

To Izuku: ] Hmm... I think my last god and I were together about that long. But we didn't do a single prayer. Mm-mm. Not one. Only ever talked once, and that was when he gave me my name. Then, boom! Nothin'.

[ And he's not that insufferable! ...Though opinion may vary.

To Todoroki: ] Yeah... [ Demyx hangs on that word there, then waves his hands in a back-and-forth motion in front of him. ] I'm totally not cut out for combat, so that's all you.

That sounds awfully lonely...

[He's no stranger to being left out of things. But having somebody he thought was supposed to be close to him and wasn't, that sounds way harder than just accepting his classmates didn't want to deal with him.]

... I think it'll be best if we split the prayers. Todoroki will go on the harder or more ayakashi driven prayers, and Demyx will go on the more social types.

How does that sound?
