What do you do when...your shinki...uhm...disappears?

[Private to Rin]

He's gone...

[Hn... Makoto's not around here. Must be down by the water. But if that's the case-- Can he really be ok with that? Rin understands he's gotten better over the years, but, really, how much of that is truth and how much is Makoto trying to cover up for himself? Either way, he makes his way down towards the shore, noting the waves' behavior, and sure enough spots his friend sitting alone on the sand.

Without a word he walks over, stops, then quietly drops down to sit beside Makoto with his knees pulled up and arms crossed atop them.

... Maybe he should wait before saying anything.]

[Out of the corner of his eye, he watches Makoto fiddle with that little phone charm in his hand--must be something Haru left behind--and when he opens his mouth to speak he waits... only to receive nothing in the end. Well, this is certainly a start.

Tsk. If he wants to say something, he should come out with it already... It's what he should say. What he wants to say. But he doesn't and instead opts for taking the initiative himself.]

... When did you find out?

[That he was gone.]

[It would be easy to tell him it's ok, that distance between them will do them some good and that Haru's safer and happier somewhere else... but none of those things are what Makoto wants to hear. Not really anyway.

Hearing him continue in that broken tone only confirms that. Yes, it'd be easy to say those things, but will they bring his best friend back?

No, they won't.

Tsk. Haru, you idiot.]

People come and go. At least that's what I've heard.

[In fact, he's sure none of them are safe from that fate.]

... There's a chance he could come back.

[Since receiving Makoto's message, Rin hasn't... quite given himself the chance to hurt. Shock, at first, sure. But his immediate reaction was to approach Makoto first, deal with his pain, and go from there. Now that he's here though and given the news time to sink in... it does hurt a little. More than a little.

After all, without Haru, Rin's always been prone to stagnating one way or another.

It's easier then... telling themselves he's ok and that he'll come back.

He doesn't reply at first, only stares down towards the sand at his feet, before finally letting out a resigned sigh. All that progress the two of them made-- He can only imagine how that feels to suddenly lose it.]

One thing's for sure...

[Rin pauses before finally turning to face his friend directly.]

You can't be alone right now.

[For more than one reason.]

Without Haru you'll be defenseless here.
