To Whom It May Concern:
I am Kurosaki Hisoka, a shinigami of the Summons Division assigned to Kyushu. For more than a month now, I was placed with my partner, Tsuzuki Asato, under the role of a divine vessel. Due to a situation beyond our control, this is not the case any longer. If I caused you any concern, I would like to speak with you.
I have recently been informed that I have had the title of the god Fudaishi transferred to me. I understand that this is an anomalous situation, so I'm looking for information on the following subjects:

- Mechanics of how gods handle stray souls
- Divine spells governing loss of memory

[Not that he's saying he wasn't broken up about your apparent demise, but he might be saying he wasn't too broken up about it.]
We have had at least one of our new shinki die in combat previously. He returned as a shinki with his name intact almost at once, but he lost his memories of the time too.
It could be a reaction to the trauma of death.

Thanks. I'm not sure about the idea that it's traumatic memory loss. It's very specific in this case, and I can remember only one evening of my time as a shinki. If I have to guess, I would think it's targeted.
The dead that don't move on are often unusually attached to their time alive besides. I have some experience there as my usual position means that I often function as an escort of those souls.
[ He's really not one for exposition, but it seems like citing his reasoning might do more to foster a dialogue here. ]

As far as I know, no shinki remembers their time alive, but all of our new gods do. What was it like to remember?

The real Fudaishi was a Chinese philosopher circa 500 CE that was deified by the Japanese sometime after his death. To call me that god would be entirely incorrect even if I've temporarily taken on his duties.
It was very frustrating. I'm still getting my bearings.

1) Shinki cannot remember their lives before becoming shinki. Gods can remember their lives before becoming gods.
2) When those of us who have become shinki as a result of this new appearance of gods and shinki die here, it damages our memory of our time in this role.
Shinki who have been made in the traditional manner, by gods who deliberately recruit lingering souls, don't return at all if they are destroyed. If there's a cause for the loss of memories when we return, could it be linked to the unusual way we were created?

Unfortunately, we'll probably have more information to look forward to before much longer.

In any case, I hope your partner will be able to help you recall what you've forgotten about this place. You knew each other well before you came here, then?
[Maybe that is the answer to the odd knowledge some gods seem to have about their shinki. Maybe their connection goes back before their shinki's death.]
