Shinki and gods: I, the Valkyrie, open the temple of Osiris to those of you who wish to train in combat.

Battle against the ayakashi is a service gods and shinki alone can offer the mortal world. Though mortals voice prayers for all manner of things, they have the strength within them to improve their own lot -- to vanquish their personal demons, to overcome their obstacles, to deal with their fellow man. Divine aid in these cases is a boon, not a necessity. Not so with the ayakashi, who as we know can only be truly defeated when god and shinki align their strengths.

Therefore your duty must be to defeat these enemies. As most of you gained your position here through arbitrary assignation, many of you lack the ability to fight, and thus your ability to perform that task. I shall rectify that, should you wish to fulfill your duty.

That's very kind of you. I may take you up on your offer since I don't have any sort of combat experience at all.

A dangerous position to be in, especially as the enemies of heaven have revealed themselves willing to attack here in our midst.

Using my powers as a god may help, but I don't want to depend on it. With enemies lurking around, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Nothing can substitute for ability and willingness in battle. Divine powers are nothing compared to the will to battle.

I'm fine with hand-to-hand, but I could use someone to train in swordfighting with. I had it suggested to me and I've been working on the basics, but without anyone to actually fight against it's going to be useless in real combat.

There is little of value to be learned in repetitive practice. It will hone your body, which may be valuable to one who is not Aesir, but not your skill. Here you may battle my Einherjar, and both you and they will learn from it.

That's why I usually spar with people if I can. I just haven't found anyone to do it with for swordfighting.

I don't know what the hell an Einherjar is, but if they're a decent challenge, then I can't really complain.

A worthy soul is chosen on death by the Valkyrie to serve as her Einherjar, to be trained by her and ultimately sent to Vahalla's halls.

The ones I have Chosen here require somewhat more worth than others, but should provide adequate challenge.

I don't know if I'm good enough to get into your classes, but I'd be interested in hearing more, Osiris.

Training would be pointless were it limited to the skilled. Moreover, my own Einherjar are at present quite poor in battle as well, so you would not feel outmatched.

Well I was imagining some kind of... pre-qualification process like level of strength or speed I guess. But I do appreciate you saying so! Are you thinking of doing this as an ongoing thing?

I encourage shinki and gods to train as one. Only together can they defeat akayashi, after all.

Well, I agree with that... but my shinki don't turn into weapons. One of 'em does, but he's a Soulless so he... takes direction pretty well.

You cannot escape violence in execution of your duty. The ayakashi cannot be reasoned with nor peacefully dismissed. Therefore you ought to master it.

My Einherjar are all unfamiliar with weapons as well. You would be well advised to learn with them, then, to develop your skills with a weapon.
