This may sound strange, but how do you make someone happy?

Being a person to be relied on - why would you consider that to be rewarding?

Let me put it this way: If they can't depend on you or trust you, they would be unhappy because of you, wouldn't they?

I suppose I'm someone who finds happiness in loyalty. It might not be rewarding for everyone like it is for me. Not everyone enjoys responsibility.
