It has come to my attention that recently there was a very large misunderstanding that resulted in quite a few Near Shore deaths and a number of gods and shinki being attacked by ayakashi. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize on behalf of the entirety of the Heavens for this grave mistake.

Unfortunately, there appears to have been a mix-up while delivering the chocolates and it seems that they became tainted in the process. We are currently uncertain as to whether this was the active working of someone against the Heavens or if it was simply an accident. Either way, a mistake was made and many people paid the consequences for it.

We assure you all that every effort to track down the culprits is being made and all security measures will be increased drastically from here on out to prevent any future incidents like this one.

Please feel free to direct any questions or concerns to this thread and they will be dealt with in a timely manner.

Very good questions, Hakkai Cho.

1) The chocolates were handled mostly by my personal shinki, though some other gods did lend their shinki to help with the process.

2) The chocolates received were, in fact, the ones we had sent out. Something must have occurred during their transport.

3) Many of my retainers are currently out actively seeking the responsible party or parties, retracing the path that the chocolates took on their way to be handed out. There is not much more that can be done until we find the culprit, though we are also using scrying to attempt to pinpoint the location(s) of the offending person(s).

4) Unfortunately, there are many reasons that ayakashi might suddenly spill forth, such as they did on the 24th of February this year. With that said, there is no way we can possibly determine what actually caused the problem to begin with. It could have been an accidental rift or even the work of someone looking to cause chaos.

Please let me know if any of these answers are unsatisfactory.

1) Which other gods, and is it possible that any of your shinki involved could have betrayed you?

2) Were all of the chocolates kept together during the time between their entering your hands and your giving them to us, and are you absolutely certain that the ayakashi tainting them were not present when you originally received them?

1) I would not feel right revealing the others without their permission, please forgive me. And I would like to think that none of my shinki could betray me, but there is precedence that shinki can betray without stinging their god, so I cannot be certain.

2) The chocolates were kept in the boxes that they were delivered in, but I cannot guarantee all of the boxes were kept together. Additionally, I did not confirm with my own eyes that the ayakashi were not present when the chocolates were received, I apologize again.

Then you can only confirm that none of your shinki who were involved in transporting the chocolate stung you?

Was anyone responsible for determining that the chocolate was safe, and where did you initially receive it from? Was it the confectioner's listed on the lid, or a third party?

That is correct. I have not been stung.

There were many shinki in charge of transporting the chocolate, but there was no reason to suspect that anything was wrong with them. The chocolates were obtained through means I am unaware of, but I assure you that it was through a trusted source, as my counselors have assured me.

Can you tell us which of your counselors assured you of that? Or would that person be able to answer our questions about their source?

They are unfortunately unavailable at this time, and I feel it would be wrong to out their name without them being able to come and speak for themselves. I assure you that they are very trustworthy, though, and have been with me for many centuries.
