Well, if you think about it, they appear to have succeeded in removing quite a few existing gods and replacing them with hapless mortal souls!

Mostly mortal, at least.

Is that the enemy we're talking about? How do you know it's the same one?

I don't. It could be a different group taking advantage of the chaos we're causing by our appearance. From what I've heard, though, it seems that unusual and violent occurrences are often coordinated with new gods and shinki appearing.

It seems more likely that they're connected, or the same, than not.

Maybe that's what they want you to think.

[But even she realizes how far-fetched that sounds.]

Anyway, I thought you didn't want to give that kind of info away to anyone who might be looking.

Oh, no. That's all common knowledge.

What I think you won't hear in a venue like this is anything that isn't.

Almost certainly. I don't think there are too many positive places you can go with corpses full of the screaming, trapped souls of the dead.

Were what? Unpleasant? Well, I like a pleasant life myself.

[She has to re-read the last part a couple of times to parse it, because that was not in fact what she meant, but, upon reflection, the reason she asked that particular question was due to considerations that she never explained and that she doesn't particularly care to to explain, so... She just rolls with it.]

Who knows, your heaven might be someone else's hell. What's the kind of pleasant life you're after?

To be honest, as long as the people important to me are safe, that's good enough.

In my experience, excitement is overrated.

Sometimes. I'd like to discover who's behind this all.

Of course, that's the same as everyone else, including the Heavens, isn't it? But I'm not very good at waiting for the next blow.
