I'm curious about the other shinki here. From my understanding, we all are given unique forms or "vessels" which are used to serve our gods. These vessels can range from a variety of items, though they are primarily intended to be used as weapons or protection against Ayakashi. However, I haven't seen any lists of examples or surveys regarding what these forms may be. It's difficult to gauge what to expect without any examples to draw upon. A more comprehensive list of shinki forms and abilities would also be useful to newer gods and shinkis who may not be certain of what they're capable of, or how a more unorthodox form might be used.

If anyone is willing to share, I wouldn't mind keeping such a list up to date.

Of course, identifying details may be removed upon request. I'm more interested in knowing the variety of forms currently available and which ones are the most common type. Information from the "new" shinki would be preferred, as opposed to the "older" shinki from before the changes in the Heavens, though I'll gladly accept your information as a separate data group.

On an unrelated note, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's familiar with or currently a cyborg or sentient machine. I've already met a couple of you. Perhaps there are others here?

OF COURSE@@!!! so in terms of length there"S tantou, wakizashi, uchigatana, tachi, and oodachi, and i guess naginata and yari but they;re different [Spears and halberds aren't exactly the same thing as swords so Yamato isn't going to bother going into detail about them. ...Even though there's a spear god around here somewhere. Whatever, Otegine can talk about himself if he wants.]

I"M about 70cm [(he's 68.9 but Add doesn't need to know that)] but that's the longest you can be before you become a tachi. ANnything shorter than 60 is a wakizashi or a tantou and they're for other things like fighting in really narrow placess or for weaker people. but you can use uchigatana like me for fighting inside or cutting off legs--

Very informative. So you're without a doubt a weapon intended for combat. Have you been used in combat against Ayakashi before?

Some vessels aren't suited for combat, so it wouldn't make sense unless they had something else to offer as shinki. I'm more interested in the possibility of unique abilities, but shared ones such as borderlines may prove useful as well. [he refuses to believe his vessel form is as useless as it seems, damnit.]

Something that doesn't have an obvious practical use against Ayakashi. Like, perhaps...

Let's say a pot lid. [sorry Yukio he's not using himself as an example dwi] A vessel like that wouldn't be very useful for much of anything, but it wouldn't make sense for a shinki to be given such a form if it served no purpose.

well i dont'; know but i think a pot lid could be a weapon if it wanted to be you could take off heads if the edges were sharp enough!!!!

well..... I don't know if our gods choose our vessels or if we just come that way, but I think it has to do with how we can best support them.... not all gods are meant to be fighters after all? Mórrígan-sama is a kind of war god but there are gods of fortune and gods of love too. it's our job to protect them but it's their job to know how to use us right

So what you're saying is you don't believe all gods are suited to fight with ayakashi, so they would instead use their shinki for other supporting tasks? I suppose that's one way of considering it...

But that seems rather pointless, don't you think? I mean, a pot lid [sorry Yukio he appreciates you for confessing your embarassing vessel to him really] is a rather common item. If it's not meant for killing ayakashi, what other need could that vessel serve that couldn't be done by a mundane item?

i think if you were chosen to be a shinki then that means there's something special about you right? so there's something only you can offer your god, if not they wouldn't need you. maybe they have a pot shinki and together you can make heavenly food?? [Or something along those lines. Swords, not so good with non-sword things.] Menrva-sama has a library,, if your god doesn't know how to use you then maybe they can go there for ideas

That "something special" is what I've been looking for, although I've mainly been thinking in terms of dealing with ayakashi... Your line of thinking is sound. Perhaps I've been too narrow minded about this. [Add doesn't really feel like he's suited for combat anyway, so wouldn't it make sense for him to be a noncombatant? It's just a matter of figuring out what it is he should be doing, and what unique abilities he might have for that task.]

A god's library? It wouldn't hurt to take a look. I'll keep that in mind.
