just checking!

has anyone ever heard of a god's temple not letting people in? making them feel unwelcome. that kind of thing.

how do you fix it?

[Well then. That makes things simpler...

Until he sees the "directions".]

Is that supposed to be a map?

You just expect me to wander around until I find it, don't you?

This better be worth my time.
[But he still wants to do it anyway... it's for science, right??

still probably gonna be awhile before he shows up, though.]

[It's awhile before he gets there, but he does manage to find the place, eventually. Even if it was way too tedious of a walk for him to want to repeat... once he's out the door, there's no going back. He's too stubborn to quit even when it irritates him.

Add might also be sporting a slight limp, but he's not about to mention it. Compared to how he looked just a few days ago, though, anyone would be surprised to know the reason for it. Healing magic sure does wonders.

He can't help but feel a little jealous of Axel's cozy bench, which he is so kindly taking up the entirety of with his stupid feet. He'd really like to sit down. Instead he settles for shooting Axel an annoyed glare before turning to face the temple.]

So, at this distance you're unaffected? At what point does it start to influence you, would you say? [Who needs greetings, there's experimentation to be had.]

[Well, no time to rest anyway. He follows Axel's lead, taking in the scenery on the way there. It doesn't exactly look like a temple, unlike his own god's... though that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a fairly large manor. Must be spacious on the inside.

As Axel said, he doesn't feel any different on the approach. When they reach the door, though...]

Ah. Hmm. [Add stops with his hand hovering over the doorknob. He pauses, then he allows his hand to rest on it for a moment, then he takes his hand off again... then he takes a step back, then a step forward again, then touching it again...]

Of course, it could just be a false positive since you told me what to expect... [mumbling to himself some more under his breath while he repeats the above steps a few more times, just to be sure of the difference]

[... Okay, actually stepping inside is a bit more intense than just touching the doorknob. Surely something like this couldn't just be a false positive...]

... Still, for something like this, it's too easy to distort the results. The human mind is very easily manipulated; mine is no exception. [sorry, Axel, even if he can feel the same thing his scientific mind won't accept that as proper evidence] We should repeat this experiment with someone unaware of the effects of the temple. That way the data won't be contaminated.

Although, if this is really the effects of the temple itself, perhaps you should be more concerned about potential gas leaks or other dangers.

[He shrugs.] Perhaps gods are unaffected? We don't have enough information to be sure. Regardless, I wouldn't trust being in a place that feels this disquieting. [So, he's going to take a decisive step back out of the temple. Much nicer on the outside.]

A blind test would be ideal, but more results would be useful regardless. Find an excuse to invite more people over and gauge their reactions. Don't bring up the unwelcome feeling unless someone asks. It should be a simple enough experiment to perform.

[personal profile] subtract 2016-05-31 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, a lot of work—which is why Add will happily suggest Axel handle it himself, since it's his problem. He'll just analyze the results.]

I suppose I could. [With a bit of a sigh, because he's still not sure if he even likes Roxas... the guy is just way too pushy and difficult to deal with.

He pulls out his phone to send him a quick text. That should be good enough, right?]

And Pippa hasn't noticed anything else unusual around the temple? Any other strange feelings or sensations? It may not appear to her exactly as it does to you.
subtract: you lose your mind (I-0133)

[personal profile] subtract 2016-05-31 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He texts back at Roxas a bit, still lingering near the front door without getting close enough to feel the "aura". His attention is mostly on his phone.

Helpfully, he offers up another possibility:]
Or she's keeping it from you.
subtract: you lose your mind (I-0125)

[personal profile] subtract 2016-05-31 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I meant she could be causing that influence in some way, or it could be having a wildly different effect on herself. Since we don't know what her motive might be, it's not completely ruled out.

[Maybe it's unlikely if they only consider the information that they know, but there could still be details they're missing. Something to keep in mind.]

But judging from her other responses I wouldn't consider it high on my list just now... if it were part of a conspiracy, she wouldn't be offering to help with it so easily—

[...and then he stops, frowning at his phone.] What?

[personal profile] cloak 2016-06-01 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[And there he is, right behind them. How long he's been there is something of a mystery - Roxas hasn't ever been the sort to announce his presence to others. He'd said as much via text anyway. There he is, waiting for whatever this thing is Add actually wants a hand with.

It's probably for science. That'd make sense for Add.

But since clearly he's given indication that he's there, he pockets his phone and folds his arms across his chest]

So what'd you want?
subtract: you lose your mind (I-0094)

[personal profile] subtract 2016-06-03 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Even with the advance warning, he still jumps noticeably when Roxas suddenly speaks up behind him... at least he resists the urge to yelp or spin around like a coward, though his eyes do shift colour reflexively.

He clears his throat loudly, settling back into a scowl.]

What he said. [Add's input was very necessary...]

[personal profile] cloak 2016-06-03 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a simple enough request, and Roxas' keyblades shimmer into his grip. Surely there must be something preventing their passage, or they wouldn't have called him here...right?

So he approaches the doors, stopping a short distance away to level a keyblade in their direction. A moment of silence before he tips his head curiously to one side]

...They aren't locked.
subtract: you lose your mind (I-0136)

[personal profile] subtract 2016-06-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
... Is he seriously this dense? [he said that out loud, but whatever.

Judging you so hard Roxas. So much judging.

Just touch the stupid door already.]
cloak: (Default)

[personal profile] cloak 2016-06-04 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll dismiss his weapons, huffing out a vexed breath. Not that data ever needed to breathe, but it's something he maintains out of a strange force of borrowed habit]

Then what'd you need me for?

[It's clearly entirely possible for them to open the doors on their own, if they're not locked in any way, shape, or form]
