Gods are powerful. No matter who we are, there's strength in all of us, terrifying strength we might not even understand. We can choose to control it, abuse it, and use it for whatever purpose suits our needs or the needs of the people.

But shinki aren't given that same choice.

As you might've heard... my shinki had a new name forced upon him while he was still in my care, by a god who couldn't have cared less and saw him as a tool. You heard what he had to say regarding freedom and rights and some of you even addressed his questions. ... You know he's afraid. You know that your shinki have wondered the same exact things from the moment they stood by your side. Whether we're trustworthy or kind or even worth their effort.

After all, we're strangers to them. And like it or not, we might as well be their biggest threat.

So... why not change that?

I want to form a defense team; a group dedicated to protecting shinki and their integrity. They shouldn't have to rely on us for their lives. They deserve proper rights and freedom and choice just as much as we do. And if any other gods believe the same, then I'd hope you'd consider working with me.

As for any shinki listening in: you aren't a tool. You're you before you're anyone else. If there's anything you need to say, tell me. I'll listen.

Before the first newcomers arrived, we rarely had to encounter matters like this. It disgusts me to know this happened - that I allowed it to happen.

[ There's still a bitterness in her voice. She's one of the older gods that had been tasked to look after these newbies and she let a shinki get named like that. Careless. Very careless. ]

What he's done is unforgivable. Shinki are not tools. They never were. They are our regalia, our treasures and must be regarded as such.

[ A breath, her fingers interlacing before her. ]

[ She still feels a measure of responsiblity. Like a caretaker who didn't do a good enough job of looking after the kids in her care... and one of them got hurt.

But yes, there's time to get mad and time to place blame. For now, it's time to plan. ]

I swear it. I will do what I can to find him. For now...

[ A frown. ]

I will need cooperation. Your shinki told me of his weaknesses and his abilities. It's clear it would be best if none of us seek him out on our own. If you find others willing to fight with us, please let me know.

Yeah. Sousuke knows him better than I do.

[Weaknesses, abilities. Whatever else there might be, Sousuke would know. But that's not enough to keep Rin at bay though, and he's already promised to make his move... on his own.

Speaking of which,]

... How would you fight in this case?

Sousuke told me that he's the kind who would rather run than fight.

[ Brows furrowed slightly as she thinks this through. ]

Doubtless he's probably heard of me by now so he'd know who to look after. Same with you. It would be best to corner him or at least drive him to a corner. That will take several other gods, possibly positioned in key locations throughout the city so we'll have tabs on him wherever he may run.

Then it'll be a matter of either subduing him or tiring him out.

Doesn't surprise me.

[If he likes to hide and lurk around as much as he does, then he has to be the type. Just makes him more slippery though, doesn't it?

He listens closely, nodding, before that last bit raises another question.]

And? After he's been subdued?

[Confine him? Slap him on the wrist? He's not sure how law really works here, but it has to one way or another.]

I'll leave it up to you. You and your shinki are the ones at the forefront of this, after all.

[ But there's a further furrow on her brow. It's clear what she has planned is less than... merciful. ]

Unfortunately, there is no way to deal with him permanently. Were he one of ours, an execution would be useful... but I doubt how useful it'll be in this situation.

Were we to execute him, I have no guarantee he won't return and have enough knowledge to do it again.

I'll have to consult Sousuke about it first.

[Were it up to Rin... he wouldn't want to take things to such an extreme. He's always had a softer heart than he lets on.]

But... right now my priority rests with protecting shinki and finding enough gods to support that.

With you on board at least, I hope people will realize how serious of a matter this is. So... thank you.

There's no need to thank me. Things are hard enough here for all of you without having to deal with this happening.

[ She can't help but let out a breath at that. Ugh. All this stress for the newbies... and even more dangers to look out for in her case. ]
