Kija is gone. I can tell that he's not here.

Really, has no one found out the reason behind disappearances like this? If anyone knows what's happened to him or has hurt him in some way, you'd better come forward now before I discover this later. I won't have any mercy towards someone like that.

Who can tell me anything about this? Anyone?

Has his god said anything to you about it? Hedone, I believe it was?

From what I understand, he actually left his god before he vanished. He told me he was released after a talk they had.

[Hakkai doesn't want to say it, but the obvious next thought is that Kija probably didn't vanish. If his god had released him and he hadn't yet found another, he was defenseless. He was probably snapped up by a passing ayakashi somewhere.

There's no way to know, though, of course, and Hakkai still isn't sure vanished doesn't mean dead too.]

I appreciate it. But saying it like that makes it sound as if something bad happened to him. I think I would have felt it if that were the case. He vanished suddenly, immediately.

Could you feel his mood? Or simply his presence?

His presence. Even if he was in the far shore and I was in the near shore, I knew where he was, and I could feel his existence.

He's probably disappeared like the others, then. But it's hard to say.

[If Jae-Ha only knew when Kija disappeared, and not what he might have felt before he disappeared, it could still be a death. And yet... it's hard to be sure.

If he was killed, he should come back. Shinki seem to.

I don't intend to give up. I'll know if he reappears... And until then, I can only look for answers.

I have plenty of questions... But I assume by "specific" you mean more than a vague "why does this happen?" It's hard to have those without knowing any direction.

For instance, what do the people who have disappeared have in common?

There have been a large number of disappearances, haven't there? Do you really think the targets are purposeful? The only thing I can think of them all sharing is that they were all gods and shinki that are not "usual" to this world. As far as I know, at least.

The targets don't necessarily have to be purposeful for the disappearances to have elements in common. It could be that they're caused by the spell that forces our souls into the roles of gods or shinki deteriorating, for example, but that raises the question of why it would deteriorate at different rates for different souls.

Is it a question of power? Specific abilities? Proximity to others?

It's also possible that those disappearances are caused by different things. That, for instance, some of them are purposeful.

We could think about it for weeks without getting anywhere.
