Have any shinki woken up one morning to find that they could suddenly recall something? Like a piece of their memory had been restored, as if it were never missing to begin with.

I need to know if it's a bad sign, or if anything needs to be done.

Having the memory wasn't what caused the blight. It was how I felt about it. It was easy to control.

That's good to hear. If I can control my feelings on the memory still, I won't cause blight? I hope that's the case.

Was your memory unpleasant, then?

Very. I'm beginning to understand why we have no memories when we first arrive.

I'm finding that it's common that way.

But unless someone who knows about our pasts tells us about them, we should be safe.

If that's the case, why is it discouraged for us to think about it ourselves?

Because we might start asking, and not every god is going to care enough to protect us.

I wonder if that's the case. It would make sense...

... If a god were to tell us about our pasts, it would destroy us. It makes a lot of sense.

But aren't gods aware that it's not something meant to be told?

Gods don't have to care about us.

If someone from your home knows you, they wouldn't even be harmed if you were to turn into an ayakashi.

I have a unique connection that makes me wonder if that's always the case. But I don't intend on turning into anything other than myself.

None of us do. It doesn't mean it can't happen.

It's important to be careful about this, still.

I know. One of the more "normal" shinki has already implied that it's not just the word of a god that can cause a difference, but it could be because we're different from these native shinki.

I don't know what normal shinki would be like to be completely honest. I don't talk to much of anyone. But it's as good of a guess as any.

The difference is apparently that they don't recall even their names.

So then how do they know what they're called?

[razzledazzles]

Their gods name them, and their vessel name comes from the root of that name.

I'm glad that's not the case here. I'd be nameless too often.
