Do we really have to do this, Aymeric? We could simply send invitations out individually when it’s closer to time.

Was it not your suggestion that we do this?

[It’s said quietly as well but the tone is gentle.]

There is nothing to worry about. We will do this together.

[Leo sighs and looks at the camera, trying to smile. It’s obvious he’s kind of regretting this decision, though.]

Right. For those of you who don’t know us, this message isn’t necessarily for you but--I am Leo, currently the god Odin.

And I am Aymeric de Borel, also assigned as a god. [What? God name ain’t important here, the actual one is.]

We--I--decided that this would perhaps be the fastest way of getting the news out. Aymeric and I…

[Deep breath.]

We’ll be married in the spring.

[It’s not shown on camera but one of Aymeric’s hands covers Leo’s, gently squeezing it as a way of reassuring him. He knows how they both are, not the type to make big announcements such as this but also wanting to share how they feel about each other. And with all the bad happening lately, there needed to be some sort of good. But they can see the elezen’s expression as he smiles warmly.

Leo appreciates the comfort, Aymeric, but he’d appreciate you saying something a little more.]

Invitations will obviously be sent out closer to the date. We would have said something sooner, but…

Given the circumstances of the recent events, it seemed a bit out of place to speak of it. However, we wished to tell our friends and fellow comrades of our news as soon as we were able. We are still planning for the ceremony and celebration so we are unable to answer much on that front.
[This is so different than trying to speak on politics or try to sway a group of people; he can do that with his eyes shut. No, this much more nerve wracking and he’s giving a mental prayer to Halone to give him strength not to screw this up.

They both suck at this, huh?]

Like I said, this is mostly for those of you who know us...or rather Aymeric. [He’s seen Aymeric’s contact list, okay.] Hopefully when the time comes, you’ll join us on our wedding day. ...gods that’s weird to say.

Life is better with a few happy surprises, I'd say--especially when the surprise is such a dear, deep connection. That's something worthy of admiration.

Especially when you never thought it would happen for you.

What would make you think that? Was the idea always just outside of being feasible for your circumstances?

It takes Leo a moment to worry over what to say, realize he's overthinking it, and just using the simplest explanation he can.]

I'm a prince in my home world. I was always expected to marry a woman for politics, not a man that I love.

I am not obligated to plan for boring and outdated traditions.

I am going to relish this planning, even if it does go pear shaped.

What's a major change in life without a little chaos? Being able to set your own traditions is a wonderful freedom, and if it's all done with love in mind, even better.

There's chaos and then there's "having to speak a dead language because Tradition".

That sounds terrible. Wnat purpose would such a thing even serve?

Previously? Either warding off evil or showing off, depending on who you asked. Now it's just showing off in the "ha ha I'm better and smarter than everyone here, look at me flaunt it" way.

That sounds ridiculously frivolous. An invocation against ill luck is only as good as the kindness and sincerity put into it, and binding something in a tongue no one understands is a recipe for trouble.

The worst part is I do understand it and those "charms" are literally just a promise to protect their spouse.

A promise like that is worth its weight in air. Then again, I'm not much of a spellcaster; I've always seen my word as my oath and as strong as my actions.

I don't know. Sometimes it's reassuring to hear someone say it.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's something that should be declared plainly and held true over all things.
