I remembered something a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a dream at first, but I know now that it's a memory from sometime before I shuffled off this mortal coil.

I haven't been able to forget it. I see it every time I try to sleep. It's been almost three weeks now and it's still there.

I'm getting heartily sick of the damn thing. Is there any way to forget again?

Beyond dying again? Not as far as I know. And it's not exactly advisable to die again intentionally or not. And there's no guarantee that you won't remember things again later on.

Unless there is someone around who can steal or seal memories, but that's sort of an unpleasant thought.

Unpleasant? Certainly, but I haven’t gotten more than a couple hours sleep a night in weeks thanks to these fucking nightmares. That is equally unpleasant.

I mean the possibilities of what a person with powers like that might be able to do. There is no knowing if they would only take or hide only the memories that you want to forget.

That is the risk of regaining memories. We don't get a warning about it, and they're not always pleasant nor do they always make sense, which can be frustrating.

Memories usually return within a few weeks of revival and the odds of revival are worse than fifty-fifty, so I wouldn't recommend dying.

On the other hand, if it's sleeping that's the problem, I could mix you a helpful tea.

I can guarantee there's nothing dangerous in it. [Glassware clinks again; his tone is perfectly mild and thoughtful.] As for the magic, all of the medicines I've tested so far have worked better than their ingredients can explain.
