Does anyone out there know how to make weapons? Or have access to ones that aren't the usual sort you see around the temples?

I've been using this sword, a katana, for a while now, but I'm starting to feel the small differences between what I'm using and what my body expected are holding me back. Trouble is, I'm not sure just what I'm after, either, so that makes it harder... but I want to see if I can find a weapon that truly fits me. Something like I used when I was alive, I guess.

Of course! Otherwise it would be child's play. It's an old weapon right? So it's not that surprising.

And the gods... aren't in a hurry to modernize. I wonder if that's something shinki are supposed to prevent, or at least caution them about. Can you modernize a god?

[yasei]

Yeah they sure are not. Prevent them from going modern? Why? Everything else is going modern, they'll just end up being backdated and backwaters if they don't try to keep up. But it's probably possible to modernize them if one tries.

That's what I meant -- are shinki supposed to keep them from getting set in their ways? But the old gods seem to avoid that by just not naming new shinki.

[yasei]

Well, things change with time and don't work the same way after ten or a hundred years so if they don't keep up, and if they stay set in their ways, that would just be troublesome.

So basically they're cowards.

I get the feeling they don't think things should change...

[yasei]

That's unsurprising. They probably don't.

[mithrarin]

So much so that they're wrecking their own system? It's no wonder things built up so badly that new gods and shinki ended up pouring in here.

[yasei]

Oh yeah and then they complain about us without taking into consideration that it might actually be because of them that we're here at all.

Well, that's never even occurred to them. And to be fair, we can't prove it. It's just a guess.

Yeah, that’s the way things are. But they also can’t prove that that’s NOT the reason.

When you consider how long they've lived... I can understand why they just want to play this cool and hope it goes away. It's just a second on their scale.

Not saying that it's right, just that I can see their perspective.

[yasei]

I can see it too but it's not like it's going to solve anything. It's just lazy.

Gods and shinki... both disappear from here. If they wait long enough, it's possible the problem WILL go away...

That is true, but pushing everything to the future isn't going to do anything now.

[mithrarin]

Yeah, but if something was annoying you for only five minutes, would it be worth putting a lot of effort into dealing with it? That might be how they see it.

[yasei]

Ah, so we're their five minutes. Yeah, then they probably won't bother.

[mithrarin]

Yeah, they're... hundreds of years old, and we've been here for a fraction of that.

[yasei]

They're old and powerful... Normally they wouldn't pay us any attention.

[mithrarin]

If not for those of us that were gods, I think they'd pay us no attention at all.

[yasei]

Free reign to be eaten by ayakashi, that doesn't sound so bad! They would be troubled by it.

I mean, I think we shinki would just be treated as normal, but no one would think we're anything special...

We're not normal though. Not that we're special, either.
