No one can really be the judge of you, but there are times when it can be the only solution.

Then you have your answer. Because people can very well easily argue that there would have still been ways to avoid it, even if you don't agree.

It might not even be you being a slow learner. People learn everything at a different pace or tend to ignore it until they can no longer run from it.
