[Hello, Far Shore!

Here's your resident redhaired librarian who greets everyone with a slight smile and a wave.]

Hey, everyone. I've noticed there's been quite a few people here who are either illiterate or mute [Selectively mute, anyway] so I've decided to find a way where it might be easier to communicate.

I'll be teaching sign language for anyone who's interested and I'm also offering to help anyone who would like to learn how to read. So far, these will be initially taught at the library or I can even do private tutoring sessions for anyone as well. If you also know people who are interested, spread the word.

And for those who doesn't know me yet, the name's Lavi.

[Look. He never knows what Shun has planned for the day. It's usually a hit and miss with the guy.]

[Shun elects not to answer that, considering he imagines it won't make a difference to matters, so he merely waits it out until Lavi shows up so he can open the front door at the appropriate time. The slight restless movement of his other hand speaks of agitation, though in the manner he tends to when he's upset about something, even if it's clearly not affecting him enough to be going out and handling it badly.

He's also, unusually, wearing a shirt that isn't just plain black, this one with a white design of a falcon and some flowers on it.]

[The outfit gets enough of a curious look when he sees it, but he might have been a bit later than usual given how he was with Izuku earlier, having sent a text to Shun to relay the tardiness.

However, it doesn't take him to reach the god's temple, lips pressed together in a displeased frown.]

Did you know? [About Izuku.]

[Shun doesn't really need to ask what he means, considering he's been bothered by it for most of the day himself, and he lets out a faint hiss as he steps aside to allow Lavi in.]

Found out yesterday. I was about to contact him to follow up on that burnt-out department store when I noticed the switch.

[It's kind of noticeable when the contacts list goes from displaying someone under their god name to their real name.]

[Lavi doesn't even wait to go inside.]

He's told me that Todoroki's his god now. How the hell does that even happen?

[He sounds angry, mostly at knowing that even though Izuku is still here, Izuku is still technically gone.]

[Shun didn't get that particular detail, and he only looks more irritated and confused by it.] That guy was his shinki before, right? At least he'll take care of him if their relationship was what he said it was, but I'd like to know what the hell caused it just as much as you.

[He closes the door behind Lavi with perhaps a bit more force than necessary. Izuku had been a capable and active god - he didn't deserve to be forced into that position.]

I think I feel more sorry for the guy considering Todoroki might remember what happened here whereas Izuku doesn't.
[And that's just picking at the top of the barrel.

After all, Todoroki and Izuku were dating.

Lavi rubs the back of his neck, feeling frustrated.]

I've never met Todoroki, so I don't have as much sympathy there. [He can understand that it would feel awful, since he knows he'd be less than pleased if Ren became a shinki, but it's hard to feel much for someone he's only heard of by word of mouth.

After heading down the hall with a faint hiss at the whole situation, Shun goes to the right. There's a set of stairs that lead downwards, but Shun goes past those and instead opens a door just past it. It leads into a small, but not cramped library that seems to curve all the way along to the edge of the hill and then back up the other side of the hall they came in from.]

[Lavi opts not to say anything more, knowing it would only make himself upset about the situation.

He follows Shun, keeping quiet. However, the moment they enter the library, his eye seems to light up and he can't help but be immediately drawn to the books.]

[Shun isn't too surprised to catch that little reaction from Lavi.] It's not as disorganised as the Heavens' library, but it's still bad. I've been trying to organise it for a few weeks now.

[He gestures towards a nearby shelf, which has a few stacks of books in front of it and appears to be filled with various non-fiction volumes about animals and plants.]

I don't think anything can be as disorganized as that place.

[A glance over at where Shun is gesturing.]

But if you don't mind so much, I can organize it for you. [Book nerd is a go.]

Considering it looks like this one's actually possible to organise, I'd agree. [With how long it's been since organisation efforts started and the continued nebulousness of the main library, Shun has his suspicions that it's just flat-out not possible to organise that one.

He seems a little stumped at the offer, though, frowning a bit at Lavi.] You're already doing me a favour by teaching me.

Don't think of that as a favor.

[He waves a hand dismissively.] Organizing your books? That's practically a hobby for me.

[revolutionfalcon]

You don't have to dislike it for it to be a favour. [As far as Shun's concerned, asking someone else to do something still counts as a favour.] But if it's that big of a deal to you, I suppose you could try it.

Great!

[You just made his day. Sort of.

But he turns to him.]

But let's get started on those lessons first.

[It seems a little odd to him that Lavi looks so pleased with it, but Shun's not going to push too hard when they came here for a reason. So he leans against one of the desks in the little library instead of actually sitting down at it, facing Lavi.]

Go ahead.

Alright.

[He'll hop on a desk then.

[As Shun said, he's...not the best at picking up a new language. But the fact that this one is physical helps, and after a while, he focuses more on memorising and repeating the symbols themselves than assigning the meaning to them. He can do that later on.

So while he can imitate the symbols themselves flawlessly and sign back anything Lavi signs at him, he's not doing the best at actually constructing any sentences or reading what's actually being said.]

You got the basics down, at least.

[Honestly, he didn't think Shun would be this...bad at learning languages. Then again, at least it's not a verbal language he's teaching the other.]

Alright. Try piecing what I taught you together to tell me something in sign language.

[That way he has an idea how long this might take.]

It's only been one day anyway.

[But that's going to be a bit of a problem, and Shun tries running back through what Lavi demonstrated to try and pick out some things he might be able to piece together that had the meanings explained.

After a few moments and obviously still preoccupied with trying to remember if he's saying the right thing, he manages to piece together an extremely broken-up "how are you". The signs are perfectly fine once he decides they're the right ones to use, at least.]

[One day, but not surprising.

Lavi waits and nods when Shun manages something out.]

Good job. [He says it simply, smiling at him.] Once we continue with more lessons, you'll start to get the hang of it.

[revolutionfalcon]

[Shun still looks a little out of step with the whole thing, but he nods a little as he lowers his hands.] I haven't done this sort of thing for a while.

[It's...a strange feeling, and he's not sure he likes it, but he supposes he can't get away with not formally learning things after not having been schooled for a good few years now.]

Mm, is it a good sort of thing?

[He looks at him curiously.]

What were you like before the war, anyway?

[revolutionfalcon]

I don't know. [Honest answer, though Shun does have some trouble telling the difference these days.

That follow-up question makes his fists clench subtly on the table, though.] Does it matter?

[lostinshadows]

[He notices that and Lavi shakes his head.]

No, it doesn't. Just made me a bit curious is all.
