[Hello, Far Shore!

Here's your resident redhaired librarian who greets everyone with a slight smile and a wave.]

Hey, everyone. I've noticed there's been quite a few people here who are either illiterate or mute [Selectively mute, anyway] so I've decided to find a way where it might be easier to communicate.

I'll be teaching sign language for anyone who's interested and I'm also offering to help anyone who would like to learn how to read. So far, these will be initially taught at the library or I can even do private tutoring sessions for anyone as well. If you also know people who are interested, spread the word.

And for those who doesn't know me yet, the name's Lavi.

It worked well enough, but we all knew one another and we able to agree beforehand on the signs.

[She also refrained from mentioning exactly why they were used. Wanting to keep the topic light-hearted.]

I think I'd like to learn. Would you might if I asked where or how you learned?

[Internet alone was not necessarily enough. It had been a long time since Mai had access to such technology...although, given what she did know, she was able to piece together a rough enough context to guess.]

How did it feel natural? Do you mean the gestures themselves were fairly obvious in their meaning?

[...ah. That answered enough of her questions to move forward. Or, at least, told her that she wouldn't be able to get any more answers.]

Maybe you can't remember how you knew all of them...but the fact that your body still remembers must mean something, right?

Almost...almost like your memories aren't truly gone. Not completely.

[Her smile warmed, and she nodded.]

I might not find them quite as 'fun', but I agree that they can be a useful thing to learn.

Have you gotten a lot of interest so far? A language is only so useful as you have other people to speak it with, after all.

That's pretty great.

At this rate, maybe you should start up a whole class for everyone. I know they have basic schooling for some of the younger children, but there really isn't much for older gods and shinki, is there?

Old people can be stubborn.

[...she says with no small amount of self-awareness. And hints of amusement.]

But if there's one thing I have learned over time, it's that the older I get, it feels like the less I really know about things. So I wouldn't mind so much being able to take classes too, if they're made available.

And who knows? There may be others who feel the same.
