It happened again. Two months with Ran. Not even that long with Lance. Sorry, Tlaloc to those who knew him.

[Or so Yoon assumes.]

None of my supplies are here. Keith is, though. I only found one book too.

I'm not sure why I haven't been automatically assigned this time... I made a choice the first time and that didn't help Ran out either.

[He turns the phone upwards, showing the Welcome Hall for new shinki.]

I thought maybe coming back here would help me figure things out. So far it's not doing anything.

[There's a sigh before he puts the camera back on himself.]

I wish there was a book about how to choose the right god.

[ Yona had been at her temple when she sees this pop up on her device, her expression falling. She's quick to reach out and reply to him. ]

Oh, Yoon. I'm so sorry. Would you... like to come here for a little while? You're welcome to stay here while you decide what to do. What can I help with?

I'll be fine, Yona. Eventually.

[Pause. One instinct clashes with another before his scant memories about her kick in, remembering her kind heart.]

At least for tonight... I'd appreciate staying at your temple.

[ She listens to the tone of his voice, trying to decide how best to answer that, but she merely nods when he amends his answer. ]

I know you will, Yoon. But that doesn't mean I don't still wish to help make it easier, in any way I can.

You know you're always welcome to stay here. You have a room for as long as you need one. Would you like me to come get you? [ She knew it could be a bit of a walk from the Welcome Center to her temple, especially up the stairs, but if he wanted the privacy to think, she could understand that as well. ]

It's not like I have anything much to carry with me anymore. And I've been to your temple before, I remember how to get there.

[Obviously a genius remembers that sort of thing!]

I didn't know I had a room, though.

[He doesn't know how to take that - like she might have set aside a room for him months ago and he missed a clue about that.]

[ She gives him a rueful smile at that. ] Ahh, well... I happen to have several rooms, so it was no trouble reserving some of them... just in case they'd ever be needed.

[ There were just some people here who made it really important to her to have a place provided for them, should they need it. Or ever show up at all, in fact. ]

... Why didn't you tell me?

[Was this before he remembered those things?]

I intended to, I just... hadn't gotten around to it yet. [ She laughs sheepishly, ducking her head. ] Plus, I didn't want to frighten you with the offer. I know things are complicated and I didn't want to overstep what you felt would be comfortable for you.

[ He doesn't need the clarification, then. It sounds like it definitely was before he'd remembered a few things about his old life. ]

You, frighten me? to me, it seems like there's only one way for that to happen, and it wouldn't be telling me something like that. Don't you trust me to answer honestly if something bothered me?

And if you'd started to wonder why I would have a room saved for you, when I barely knew you? [ Her voice is gentle, but understanding as she counters with this. ] I trust you a great deal, Yoon - and yes, even to always be honest with me. I much prefer you that way, after all. I intended to work a conversation around to it one of these days. it just hadn't come up yet.

Well, we're talking now - and I don't barely know you.

[He's calmed down from being sullen at least.]

So it'll be fine, even if it ends up being temporary.

[Although... he does wonder if it should be. If she's doing so well, then maybe taking on a rookie shinki wouldn't hurt her status.]

The room will still be yours, Yoon, even if your stay is a temporary one. Consider it a place that is all yours, for whatever you might need it for. [ Just as Hak and Jae-Ha's rooms remain as they are, just in case. As Izumo's is. Even Kija and Zeno have a place, should they need it - and Shin-Ah even though in her time here, she's not seen him. Considering the tendency of her companions showing up here as shinki, she's not sure if that's a relief or not.

But something in how he phrases that has her carefully venturing the offer further. ]

But should you wish it not to be temporary, Yoon... I would be honored to have you stay with me, if that is something you want. You don't have to answer me right now, if you want to give it some thought, but... Consider it a standing offer, with no expiration date.

[There's a pause but not because he's contemplating her offer to take him on as her shinki.]

H-honored is a little strong a word, don't you think?

[ She blinks before giving a find laugh, shaking her head at him. ]

I don't think it's too strong a word at all, Yoon. Although you might have your work cut out for you if you do agree. [ Her tone turns wry, but is still deeply affectionate. ]

What do you mean by 'work cut out for me'?

[He's trying to imagine some kind of trial by fire that involves...]

Something to do with Shizuo?

[ Yona just laughs, although there's a hint of a sigh in her voice as well. ] Let's just say, I've begun to wonder if I should start befriending all the gods with a skill for healing. Although so far Hakkai has been very helpful.

Is that lazy guy not protecting you that you're getting that hurt?!

[MOM MODE GO!!! At least with Ran it made sense that he needed it because his powers hurt him.]

[ She blinks for a moment in surprise before she quickly shakes her head, distressed by the misunderstanding. ]

What? No, of course not! Shizuo has always been very good at protecting me. He's not really that lazy, trust me. But he does seem to stumble headfirst into all sorts of trouble himself. While he's excellent at keeping me from getting hurt, he tends to not... take care of himself as much as he should.

[Why does this not surprise Yoon in the least?]

I'll be at your temple soon. Tell me how to find him.

[Not how to find Yoon's reserved room. Shizuo's room or Shizuo himself. Priorities.]

[ That tone is so familiar, so very Yoon, that for a moment she can only laugh, grip tightening around her phone as she blinks back emotion and smiles at him. Gods, she's missed him. ]

He's fine for the moment, I promise. Just... taking it easy for a few days. Fortunately for me, he is very good at obeying a healer's orders. Just bring yourself, Yoon. That's all you need to worry about right now. We'll get everything else sorted from there. Alright?

Yona.

[ His voice is firm. ]

"Just taking it easy for a few days" means he's not fine. You don't have to explain now, but you should tell me when I get there.

[ For all Yona knows, Shizuo is toughing it out and is actually more hurt than he appears. And so Yoon would rather make sure that the guy is healing properly. Resting could very well be the worst thing for whatever hurt he's got. ]

[ She might be worried about that if it were Shizuo who had decided that taking it easy was all he needed. But she trusted Hakkai's healing abilities, especially where Shizuo (and chainsaws, apparently?) were concerned, and the order for a few days of rest and taking it easy had come from him instead when she'd gone to pick her injured shinki up from his temple.

In the meantime, however, she just nods to Yoon. ]

We can talk when you get here. I'll be waiting.

[As soon as Yoon finds out Hakkai was involved, he'll likewise be reassured that some amount of solid effort was put into Shizuo's recovery. Right now he just thinks Shizuo's resting and Yona's tending to him as best she can, with no real medical care involved. It's a pessimism that suits emergency situations.]

Okay. I'll come as quick as I can.
