How do you write romance stories? Or any sort of fiction.

What romance stories that are already written do you like?

So something that's in the middle. That makes sense.

There seems to be a lot of ways a romance story can go from what I can tell.

yeah but usually the shit that sells is pretty samey
quirky unfitting couple meet
one of them probably part of a stagnating and terrible relationship they dont want to be in
or otherwise having some sort of third wheel spanner in the works
decide they love each other after probably hating each other for a bit
they both agonize over it despite it being entirely obvious theyre both into each other
people kiss eventually after they stop being fuckheads
happy end

Is it fine to just have two out of six from that list?

depends on what two
also how good you are at doing it
like you can get away with not having a happy end but only if its somehow satisfying in another way
readers like not feeling like they wasted their time you know

That makes sense. I'm still working on the details but I don't think that would be a problem.

It's the hating each other and then kissing parts. At least, that's what I might be thinking so far.

because thats probably the biggest dealbreaker for some people
escapist fiction and all

i mean those are two of the really popular parts
so
if the rest of the story is good then youre probably good to just have those two

hell put it on amazon for like a dollar and you might get some buyers
