[ So after waking up from a vivid dream that he's becoming more and more convinced isn't a dream at all, Yata sits in the barn at Roy's temple late this morning having a minor panic attack. Unsure what he's supposed to do about this and when the first person he would normally go ask is the one person he can't go ask, he does the obvious thing. At least for him.

He flips open a video feed to the BBS. ]

So, uh, I know this has been talked about on here before but it hasn't really been relevant to me before now... [ Which, in Yata-speak, means he didn't pay attention. ] ...but.

What do you do if you wake up and suddenly remember something - or someone - from before. And you're pretty sure they don't? I mean. That's bad, right?


(( OOC Note: Both Fushimi and Yata have woken up with the same memory, Fushimi is just the sort to freak out about it privately while Yata is not, hence this post. Both characters may be tagging back replies in this thread however, and both are open to contact or action logs as well, just specify what/who you want in your starter ))

[ A long, telling pause. ]

.....No. Not really. Someone really important to me. I think? It was just one memory, but the feelings that came with it, and how we talked... I'm pretty sure they're really important.

And you know that person is here, as a shinki. I'm sorry.

I do know how that feels.

[He's silent for a few seconds before he continues.] The only advice I can give is to try not to behave differently around them. If you doubt your ability to restrain yourself... find a reason to be too busy to talk for a little while.

Yeah. That part sorta sucks. Although I'm here as one, too. [ So maybe there's some part of that that's fitting. Who knows? ]

The problem with that is he'll probably see through me in like .5 seconds.

[ Saru is way too damn clever for his own good. ]

Do you think he'd understand if you told him you couldn't explain?

I dunno. Maybe. I mean, I gotta try, I guess?

Although what if me telling him I can't explain tells him what I'm not trying to tell him in the first place?

You can't control what he guesses, but -- well. [Hakkai sighs.] You know how it feels when you try to think of something you shouldn't. You'll have to trust him to be careful if you don't think you can convince him it's really nothing.

Well. He is lots smarter about shit like that than I am...

It's hard not to think about things, but I think it may be worse if the hints are there already and you aren't direct.

... Or at least, it's no worse to be direct about why you can't say anything.

You're probably right. He'd probably prefer that anyway, actually. [ He hadn't thought of it like that, and he rubs a hand over his face. ] Thanks. That helped. Although this is really gonna suck.

[ Yata just gives a wry laugh. ] Yeah, that seems to be how my luck runs, huh?

Being a shinki is difficult enough. I think it may be worse to be a shinki who remembers something.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to keep it a secret from the one person most likely to see right through me here. But whatever, I'll... make it work somehow. I don't want to cause him more problems.

[He laughs softly.]

I hope it works better for you. It sounds as though you get along here already?

Yeah. [ He sounds surprisingly sheepish about that as he rubs at his neck and huffs out a bemused sigh. ] I guess that's not so different from before. At some point, anyway.

Then that's something you can work with, isn't it? If you're friends with or without your memories, then it'll be easier for him to trust you.

[ Did he trust him? He hadn't thought about it in that way before. ]

[ Stop logicking at him so well, Hakkai, dammit. ]

[It's less logic and more bitter personal experience: but it does help being friends regardless, just as it helps that they'd known each other before the tension of one remembering more than the other had the chance to poison their connection.

He still won't say I'm sure it'll be fine, because he's not, but he hopes it will.]
