Um.

[Yuuri looks like he might very well be thinking better of posting on the network at all, and actually moves like he's making for the "off" button for half an instant, but then he pauses halfway there. He's visibly steeling himself for a moment, as he takes a deep breath, exhales it back out, and gets a look of intense determination on his face before he plunges forward.]

Some of the rest of you have found things lying around when you woke up before, right?

It's just that...

[He falters again, but shakes his head, pressing on.]

...I found this yesterday. Hanging from the doorframe by my room.

[He holds up his hand to show a ring cupped in his palm. It's simple, but certainly looks like real gold.]

One of the cats was batting at it, and I was worried she might try to eat it or something, so at first I was just thinking about getting it away from her, but... um. I don't know how it got there, and it fits me exactly, and it...

I mean, it looks an awful lot like a wedding ring, doesn't it?

[He glances at it as if to double-check that it does. At some point, he's gone from "faintly pink around the cheeks" to "just absolutely beet red." When he looks back up, he seems pretty unsure how to continue. He might be having a slight panic attack, but what else is new, honestly?]

...I don't... I don't really know what I'm supposed to do about this.

... Wearing it would be kind of weird when you don't know who left it for you.

[And if it's from his past: it's till "death does us part," and if death's parted you and you've forgotten about your wife, should you still wear your wedding ring?

That's a startlingly sad question, and Tsuzuki blinks, stricken. The poor guy, if he's been thinking things like that about himself. At least Tsuzuki doesn't have any rings, or any marks around his fingers like he's ever worn one.]

[Yuuri is absolutely thinking about things like that, though he's trying very hard not to. He knows better, he's got more sense...]

It just seems a little sad not to wear it at all, if someone wanted me to have it.

[Even if he can't remember that person, whoever they are and whatever they were to him, he doesn't want to just throw out what they gave him. That's cold, even for him in his worst moods.]

Yeah, I guess so. Well, maybe whoever it is will say something, right?

[He sounds dubious. He's leaning towards the "mysterious object" answer himself -- he's heard about weird things happening with old belongings of gods, and why wouldn't it happen to shinki too? But it could just be a gift without a note.]

Maybe so. I'm not sure what I'd even say to them, if they did...

[He sighs, fidgeting with the ring a bit. It's probably for the best, right? He doesn't really feel like he could see himself getting that sort of close to most people, anyway.]

I mean, I figure it'd depend on whether you like your secret admirer too...

I don't think I have that sort of feelings for anyone in particular at this point, though?

Then it depends on how cute she is! You don't have to already like somebody for a first date.

A gold ring is a little forward for a first date, isn't it?

[There's a pause, and then Tsuzuki laughs.]

Okay, okay, you have a point! Maybe you should leave a note: "next time say it with flowers"...

... or candy? I don't know, what's a better present?

Either one sounds pretty nice!

And they don't have that weird "Marry me, stranger!" vibe, either.

They don't seem like they're rushing quite so much.

Exactly! Plus, unlike a ring, even if you wind up not liking the person you can still enjoy the candy....

I mean, if they wanted me to have that, then it would only be fair.

...I wonder if shinki can gain weight. It's not like we age or anything...

Huh, good question. I haven't even been here long enough to tell if my hair's growing.

[He fiddles absently with his bangs. If it is, he might have to get it cut soon. If not... well, they're dead, aren't they? Are they going to stay looking just like they did when they died forever?]

... I never really feel full, though. Or all that hungry.

Is it like that for gods, too, do you think? Or is that just a shinki thing?

[You know, from being dead.]

I haven't asked any of my gods. I just figured it was a shinki thing. Since we're... kind of like ghosts, right?

[latebloomingeros]

I mean, you'd think so. I haven't asked my god, either...

Maybe we should! It could just be the way things work for everyone in the Heavens.

He'll probably tell me I'm wasting his time with stupid questions. He's at a bit of a prickly age, I think?

[sweetdeath]

You've got a kid for a god too? -- Mine's, um, I haven't actually asked her how old she is, but about thirteen or fourteen, I think.

She's not that prickly, though.

[Which is a relief. Teenagers can be a real pain, but Sakura's nice.]

Yuri's a little bit older than her, then. He's... maybe sixteen or so?

He's a little bit opinionated sometimes, but he works really hard.

[sweetdeath]

I see what you mean about a difficult age.

[Sixteen, opinionated and wanting to make a mark on the world... well, gods grow up, at least. And hopefully get a sense of perspective.]

There's a lot more teenagers around here than I'd expect, honestly. I feel old sometimes!
