Good morning everyone. I just had a small question.

I'm finding myself with some free time and I was wondering if it's common for us to pick up a job? I realize in spite of our status, some things still require money, they same as they would for the living.

If you have a job and wouldn't mind sharing, I'd like to hear about what you do and how you feel about it. How did you find it? Or perhaps you were thinking about doing the same and just hadn't decided yet.

It's also not a problem is it? If a shinki something like that? So long as it doesn't interfere with their duties to their master. I certainly have no intention of inconveniencing them in any way.

There must be some use for it or why would they ask for it at their shrines?

I always assumed it was for shrine maintenance, living wages for the priests, and if there was any leftovers, it went back into the community. I didn't think it went to the gods themselves.

Does this mean I have money sitting around that I should be collecting?

At least some of it seems to make it back to us. It couldn't hurt to check.

Although you're the one that felt it unnecessary at this point. [So maybe its better left where it's appreciated.]

I still feel its unnecessary, but it would be rude to leave an offering unaccepted. Whether I have need for it or not, an offering made by my followers still holds symbolic significance, and leaving it to sit is as good as an outright rejection. This is not the sort of impression I would like to leave.

[Wow he's taking this seriously. And that's saying a lot coming from someone like Horikawa.] Don't you think if they've paying you that much homage that you've earned their respect? So long as their prayers are heard it's probably not much concern to them what done with it so long as it was an acceptable offering in the first place.

It's likely that they don't know that the face of their god has changed, and that they're paying their respects regardless, but even then it's not about that. It's about gratitude and thanks, and I am not ungrateful. I am grateful for their acknowledgement, in whatever form it comes in, be it trinkets, words, or currency.

It's more than I ever had in my mortal life.

I'm sorry if anything I said came off as disrespectful. If that's true then it sounds like your followers are lucky to have such an admirable god looking out for them. If you can find meaning in it, then that's even better. [And Horikawa? Maybe he's still struggling with that just a little.]

There are a number of people here who think we are just stand-ins, and that this is not meant to be. Even if that is true, I still feel it's important to perform to the best of our abilities. There are people relying on us. I won't let my standards slip regardless of the circumstances.

From my perspective there isn't really any other option so it's nice to know there's others taking it seriously as well. Being here is better than being nowhere.[If only there were more to do in his house. The stuff they had really been brought here for. That gives him an idea, albeit a strange one.]

I know you probably have your own shinki but you don't ever need help do you?
