Hello,
For those of you to whom I've not yet become acquainted, my name is Naoto Shirogane, and I'm one of the newer shinki who arrived here a little over a week ago. This is my first time posting to the BBS, so please excuse me if the length of this starter entry is perhaps a little longer than what is typical. First, I would like to thank those of you who I did have the pleasure of meeting at the Tanabata festival. You each have my sincerest gratitude for providing me your time and assistance as I attempted to get my bearings on that first day. There was a lot to process all at once, so your patience with me was most appreciated.
Second, I would like to pose a question at large purely as a point of curiosity. I've noticed that I seem to have a lingering sense of hunger that is never quite possible to satiate. I do not wish to cause alarm, as it's not exactly painful to any degree. Really, it's just an odd sort of sensation that I find distracting from time to time. Has anyone else ever felt something similar? If so, what did you do to alleviate it?

Yes, I had noticed that my stamina levels do not seem to correlate as directly with my sense of hunger as would likely be typical. Sometimes they match up, in which case having a meal does help to replenish my energy, yet the sense of hunger still lingers afterwards.

[Loss of memories, persistent sense of hunger, the ability to create borderlines and assume a vessel form... being a shinki truly is a "unique" experience.]
Eating a meal does help when my sense of hunger becomes too great to be ignored, yes. It never fully seems to go away however. But based on what you've just shared with me, it sounds like this will just have to be something I learn to live with.
[How tedious...]

I don't think I've ever been really full since I got here, but I don't really notice that much. Guessing my body isn't quite sure how to handle the 'dead' thing.
no subject
I, too, can't say as though I've felt full since arriving either. Even after eating a meal. But your guess is that this persistent hunger is due to our being deceased?
[Actually, that did make a certain degree of sense. But in that case, why then feel hunger at all?]

Yes, based on previous responses, it does seem to simply be another unique characteristic to shinki. In which case, going out for food from time to time seems like it'll be more than necessary. I would be glad to have you join me on any occasion you'd like. Alternatively, I'd be happy to cook for you sometime should you ever wish to visit.
[ Text ]
This is the first time I've even heard someone mention it. Usually I go find something to eat, or at least enough to make it fade. But I do get hungry an awful lot.
[ Then again, he'd just chalked it up to burning through a lot of energy while training or fighting... ]
[ Text ]
Finding something to eat can help to lessen its effects when they become too unbearable, but the sense of hunger will apparently always persist to some degree. Honestly, it's a bit of a nuisance...

Has it been bothering you a lot? Are we not making enough at meals?
I can cook more!
[It's not that simple, but of course Kanji's mind immediately jumps to the mundane causes of hunger.]
Text
There's no cause to be so concerned, Kanji. Really, I'm fine. It was merely something odd that I'd noticed and was curious about. There's no need for extra cooking, I promise.

Or find something tasty, tell me about it, and if I like it I'll make plenty so you can share.
[Because he's still on the hunt for new sweets and all.]
Text
With that in mind, sharing recipes does sound like a good idea. I can't claim to be particularly talented when it comes to cooking, but as long as it's nothing too extensive or intricate then I'm sure I can manage.
I'd be happy to share with you any recipes for dishes I learn to make if you're willing to do the same.

I've noticed the same thing. I rarely become too hungry, but I never feel full.
Considering other changes to our digestive and circulatory systems, I assumed it was a part of being a ghost.
text
And upon consideration, it does sort of make sense. The idea that being dead means that food cannot satisfy in the way it does for the living. By that logic, however, I wonder then why we should even need to feel hungry at all? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that, as shinki, we still need energy to do things like creating a borderline or assuming vessel form.

And that is a good point about exercising on a full stomach. Though if shinki are never completely full, do we ever have to worry about such a problem?

[ He grew up destitute after all, not that he knows that. ]
I'm more surprised by the immense kitchens that everyone seems to have in each of their temples, like everyone has private mansions and we're all living in the wealthiest district and somewhere much farther away we're eventually going to find the poorer outskirts that make all of this possible.

[Ah, reading the rest of the response gives her pause. She can't pretend to know much of anything about this person based off the few words on her screen, but there's enough there that she can get at least part of a clue.]
I would hope that is not the case. This being the afterlife, it would be nice if such an arrangement were unnecessary. How far out beyond the shrines have you gone?

Always feeling hungry? I never put much thought into it, but I've noticed the same thing myself. I usually keep something with me at all times, in case I get hungry. It might not be a bad idea to do the same.
Text
Yes, based on a lot of the responses I've received, it seems to be a universal characteristic among shinki to never feel quite full. In which case, having food prepared and on-hand when out is a very good idea indeed. What is your preferred choice to take with you?

as for the other thing, i dont know if its hunger or not. i could just be the kidn of person that can always eat. its never really gotten too bothersome
Text
Yes, my god and I were eventually able to locate each other after we received some help from some rather kind acquaintances I made at the festival.
I would not say it is has gotten too bothersome for me yet either. It was something I merely began to notice more and more, and I became curious as to whether it was isolated to just me or not.
