[ The feed clicks on, showing a red and white comet goldfish aimlessly milling about a tiny fishtank. (For those interested, the video likely literally looks something like this, sans soothing muzak.)

There is no footage of the videographer himself; no face shown on the screen save for perhaps fleetingly in the tank's reflection. Tatara's voice is audible, however, his words very easily discerned. He sounds a bit awed, perhaps almost smitten. ]

Aah, would you look at her! She's lovely, isn't she~?

Trouble is, I've had her for a while now, and I can't seem to think of a name for her. Would anyone be kind enough to help me? Just reply here with your ideas, and I'll pick the one that best fits her.

What about Comet?

Ah, Johan!

[ He recognizes that voice! And for Johan, Tatara pulls the camera back enough where he himself is partly visible, still leaving the fish as the focal point. ]

You like the name Comet?

[Johan immediately smiles in greeting at Tatara.]

I think it'd be a good name for her. Might name her after a gemstone otherwise.

[ Seeing his smile, Tatara offers one in return, naturally. ]

A gemstone! [ Now we're talking! ] Which one?

[He adopts a thoughtful look, even with the smile remaining on his face.]

Possibly Spinel.

Spinel...

[ He repeats it thoughtfully, smile never fading. ]

What kind of gemstone is that? You know a lot about them, don't you?

[Johan lets out a soft laugh.]

Spinel is a gemstone that closely resembles a ruby. People sometimes use it because they think it gives them energy purposes.

[A bit of a pause before a sheepish grin.] You can say I'm a bit of a fanatic.

[ He’ll prop his camera up here, setting it so that all of his face is visible along with the fish tank, where he can still watch Johan and his expressions in the top corner of the screen. ]

A ruby... [ Tatara laughs airily. Seems he can’t say that word anymore without thinking of Ruby Carbuncle. ]

Like your Ruby, but different? [ Said in jest, of course, with a small wink.

Obviously she’s not going to crawl up Tatara’s leg and make cute chirruping sounds, nor does she have ears he can scratch behind. But he won’t hold that against her, of course -- she’s just as valued a member of his family now as anyone and everyone else he’s taken to.

Setting his chin on neatly-folded hands, he watches the fish intently for a moment. ]

Say, Johan -- you haven’t met her yet, have you?

She came after the bridge, when Kusanagi-san and I went to the festival proper. Have we seen each other since then?

[He waits as Tatara adjusts his camera, somehow smiling brighter once he sees the older man on the screen.

At the mention of Ruby Carbuncle, Johan's expression seemed to brighten up.]

Really different.

[His attention seems to shift, eyes flickering to the side before he looks back at Tatara.] Besides, Ruby says she's cuter.

[At the question, he looks a bit surprised before shaking his head.]

No, we haven't seen each other at all recently.

[ He laughs brightly. Of course Ruby is cuter; she's hard to beat, honestly. But that doesn't mean he's going to undercut his own lovely lady while she can hear! ]

I think we can agree that they're both cute, just in different ways.

[ There's a pause after, and Tatara leans his chin on his hands, humming thoughtfully. ]

We should fix that then, shouldn't we?

[Johan simply laughs, nodding.]

We can agree on that.

[Now, he looks amused.]

We should.

[ Tatara perks up noticeably, folded fingers creating more of an arched bridge beneath his chin. ]

Would you like to this week? We can make a night of it -- maybe have dinner, or see a movie?

[ What is he asking right now?

Something harmless, of course; and no more committal than their linked hands on the bridge.

...But it definitely sounds like a date, to the untrained ear. And perhaps that doesn't bother Tatara at all. ]

[Briefly, Johan wonders if Tatara is asking him out on a date.

It—couldn't be, right?

They've only met, probably three times, and wouldn't it be weird? No, he's probably just asking as friends since Johan, with the whole bridge episode pushed aside, just regards him as a friend.

So, he smiles.]

That sounds like a plan. Just pick a day and I'll come over.

[ Tatara isn't sure what it is, himself. First dates typically include a nice dinner somewhere, don't they? Maybe a movie, yes; but also drinks and dancing and... romance.

(And, if your first date is with Chitose, a whole hell of a lot more than just that... but don't expect a second.)

So if this was a date, he'd be doing it wrong. Plus, they have only just barely spent time with one another, and he's not 100% sure Johan likes him that way at all...

All he knows is that while Tatara has never had personal space requirements or issues, he's touched people for consolation; for hugs; for comfort. But when he held Johan's hand on the bridge that night, that... that was all for him. Because he wanted to. Who would inspire him to do such a silly thing? ]

Would Friday work for you? It gives me time to get both of us cleaned up for you.

Spinel needs to make a good first impression too, you know!

[They barely know each other, even if it does seem completely normal for them to already invade each other's personal space. The hand holding was one thing, but for Johan who doesn't even mind contact in general, it felt as if there's something there.

Something he'd rather now figure out right now.

He chuckles.]

Friday should work just fine. [Amusement takes over.]

Ruby is excited to meet your new friend.

[ There is something there already, in a sense: A certain camaraderie; maybe some kind of understanding...

But, then again, it’s Tatara -- he endears quickly but topically, truly latching to few. And while he wouldn’t say he’s latched to Johan, the elder certainly enjoys his company -- on the same level as those members of his Clan, even.

Strange, for only knowing someone a short while. ]

I’m sure she is. [ A bright, broad smile that scrunches his eyes closed, crinkling them at their corners. ]

Tell her we’re both excited to see her, too!

[At this rate, it's simply just a feeling of camaraderie.

But then again, who knows; they already get along well enough.

Johan grins.]

I will. [Never mind the fact that Ruby is here, but simply invisible.] I'll see you guys on Friday then.
