This may sound strange, but how do you make someone happy?

Listen to them.

What happens if listening to them isn't enough?

Then try talking.

By listening to them- to what they say and what they don't say- you can learn what they really want and what they really need. Without knowing the person, I can't give any advice but that. If you want anything more specific, you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
