Herbivorous creatures like to gather in packs to think they are strong. It's no small wonder they are at the bottom of the food chain.

Herbivores aren't at the bottom of the food chain. They're still consumer species. Bacteria that produce carbohydrates are at the bottom.

And if you're implying to be somewhere at the top, do you really want to be considered a detrivore? It sounds accurate, but not flattering.
