Knowledge can come from exploring what is right in front of your own nose. We can't ignore what we think we've already discovered, because if we do then we might not find something entirely new.

My area of expertise is, admittedly, not engineering or astrophysics. I'm a doctor. I'm more likely to discover a new microbe or cure for a disease than a new system of propulsion.
