Hello to whomever might be reading this. My given name is Lara, and I am the current incarnation of Athena.
I've gathered I am not the first to bear her name, and I'd be interested in learning more about my predecessor. What sort of god was he/she? As I've begun settling into her temple here, I've found quite a lot of things that they probably left behind, and I also thought that perhaps it would be right to return them if any were on loan.
And I would also like to ask about the community's feelings on something. Truth be told, I've only recently begun to accept that the supernatural is real and there might be a higher power(s) at work. At least, until I woke up here and was hit in the face with it. It's a lot to absorb.
I'm feeling a touch overwhelmed and I'd like to know what role you believe a god should play. I've my own ideas, naturally, but I'm curious what others think. Do you want to live up to the legends of who came before? Do you want to change those legends into something else? Or is there something else you believe about divinity? I'm curious, so please, let me know your thoughts. It may help me better sort out my own.

This all feels frighteningly real, though. Names of what we are aside, I can do things I ought not be able to do.
no subject
It is real, though maybe not the kind of reality that you are use to. It's the magic of the place and position that you've been given, that's all. Does it scare you to have powers?
no subject
No it doesn't frighten me really, but it does make me wary. I will admit that my track record with supernaturally powered beings has not been the greatest. Of the two I met before arriving here, one was a serial liar who abused his power to trick generations of people and the other was a psychotic, murderous, soul-stealing bitch.
Mine isn't nearly the same, but what if I abuse it? I can't quite shake the feeling that I should be careful and consider my options without it, first. After all, power corrupts and I'm hardly a saint.

Considering what I am, I should feel some form of annoyance by that, but I do know what others like me are like. We don't have the same idea of values that humanity likes to place on things.
Then do that if it's something you wish to do. No one says that we have to be exactly what the definition of 'god' says we need to be. Though I do admit there is one rule we keep to - if you have a shinki you tell them nothing of their past. Especially if you knew them from before.
no subject
I'm familiar with that rule on Shinki, but thankfully I have none. And I've not seen any of my friends from home which is admittedly a relief.

My name is Ankh. Fortuna is the role I've been given.
Good for you. I'm sure that you'll get a shinki as soon as they find a soul to grab.
no subject
And you know, I hope not. I rather like the little soulless fellow they partnered me with. It's nice and quiet.
no subject
I find them suspicious.
no subject
But what is suspicious about them?
no subject
As I said, I am a Greeed. I can feel the wants and needs of all living things. From plants to animals to humans, the stronger the want, the more I can taste it.
They have none. So I find that suspicious.
no subject
that does make sense though. Maybe it's the whole 'soulless' part.
no subject
Yes, but at the same time, if it doesn't have wants and needs, is it truly living? Or is it another toy to be used and discarded? And if so, what are the soulless true purpose? To serve or to spy?

But what else is it suppose to do beyond that? It's one thing to pick up an ax to use. It's another thing to have what looks like a human turn into an ax on your whim. I do not like it, nor do I like what it implies of the older gods of this place and how they readily accept them.

For now. I am sure they will fix that oversight sooner or later.
