Hello to whomever might be reading this. My given name is Lara, and I am the current incarnation of Athena.


I've gathered I am not the first to bear her name, and I'd be interested in learning more about my predecessor. What sort of god was he/she? As I've begun settling into her temple here, I've found quite a lot of things that they probably left behind, and I also thought that perhaps it would be right to return them if any were on loan.

And I would also like to ask about the community's feelings on something. Truth be told, I've only recently begun to accept that the supernatural is real and there might be a higher power(s) at work. At least, until I woke up here and was hit in the face with it. It's a lot to absorb.

I'm feeling a touch overwhelmed and I'd like to know what role you believe a god should play. I've my own ideas, naturally, but I'm curious what others think. Do you want to live up to the legends of who came before? Do you want to change those legends into something else? Or is there something else you believe about divinity? I'm curious, so please, let me know your thoughts. It may help me better sort out my own.

Hello, Lara. That's a complicated question! We did speak a few times. Helios was a better friend of his.

I believe he had collected quite a few abandoned books from around the Heavens. If they're still there, they could be interesting reading material.

I'll have to go through them more properly, soon. That does sound interesting and probably enlightening, as a fellow bibliophile.

I admittedly have just been having a devil of a time setting up a living space. It's all quite cavernous, and I'm loathe to change too much.

You mean Ronald? Yes, actually. I certainly don't have the heart to remove him, either.

Oh if you think this is strange, you should meet my friend Jonah. The man thinks of pizza boxes as high art.

Leftover pizza boxes, left out? Or do you mean less bachelor and more avant garde?

Oh, a little of both. He's constructed a little fort out of them. And a few statues, though I'm not sure what holds them together.

It sounds like you're prepared for whatever mess our former Athena might have left.

[Which, honestly, Hakkai doubts is too terrible. Tenpou had mostly seemed bad at creating clutter, not necessarily ... well. Not necessarily "living in a structure made out of old pizza boxes" levels of unsanitary.

Hakkai's fairly sure that no version of his soul could have put up with that.]

Another question if you'll indulge me. How long was Tenpou residing here? This place looks very well lived in.

About a month, I believe. Perhaps a month and a half.

Quite a long time to be away from home.

How long has he been gone?

Two weeks.

Well, yes and no. I'm rarely in England anymore, but my last trip that lasted longer than two weeks was a real headache. Made me miss home all the more.

Two weeks though? Hopefully nobody thinks I'm just coming in and mucking about with their friend's things. Takes me longer than that to realize friends of mine are away, sometimes.

When gods disappear, their temples disappear, too.

You're the first instance I've heard of where a new person has appeared to take up the mantle of a recently vanished god. So, to be precise, it's more that Tenpou's belongings have returned with you.

Perhaps it's trying to tell me something. Pity I never met the fellow, I feel I'd have liked him.

Ah, that's my curse. I think everyone is interesting, and I'm not good at talking to them! Quite the conundrum.

Speaking of which, I hope you managed to get through that unfortunate incident without injuries?

No, no injuries worth noting. Just a few scrapes, and believe me I've had a lot worse.

I haven't had any unusual urges to lurch or devour human brains, so I'd say it's healing well.
