Is it weird that parts of this feel normal and parts of this feel like a simulation? It's strange and I get uncomfortable thinking about why some things seem really off without me being able to pin point why they are off. Also, realizing I died in what are probably my early 20's sucks.

So on to a more important question! What do shinki do for fun around here? I know there's cooking, cute goddesses and wine but I'm feeling a little boxed in by the weirdness of it all and could use a few more distractions.

Ha ha, don't worry about that. I'm not even sure how that'd work with me being dead and with gods and all.

Speaking of distractions though, apparently I'm not a bad cook. If you have something you like I could always cook us up something sometime.

Anyway, how'd you find that out? You cooked for someone already?

Yeah, someone had apples and asked for cooking ideas. I offered to help and when I went to get stuff at the store it just all came to me. I grabbed what I needed for apple curry and got to work.

So, if you want something just let me know and we'll see just how good I am.

[He's not going to say he jumped on the idea because the girl that said she wanted to know what to do with apples was cute, but that was what got him to figure this out.]

If you want to test it, why not make whatever comes to mind and have a party? That's something of a distraction. I'm not picky, either.

[Although...she hasn't mentioned yet that she's kind of undead, huh? As long as he doesn't get too curious about that metal case stashed in her room. Not that he should be going into her room in the first place.]

If you're going to be this giving, don't complain to me if I wake you up in the middle of the night to cook something.

[She hasn't told him she's undead. He's not too nosy about her either at least, not yet. Everything is too new.]

That might be a fun idea! I'll have to see what I'm good at making just to test that out first.

And so long as it's you waking me up in the middle of the night, I don't think I'll mind.

[Because if so, she's going to have to suggest some new hobbies.]

Hey, who knows. Maybe I have a lot of talents when half asleep?

Is that really something you want to test? I'll tell you now, I don't know how shinki heal.

I probably don't want to know how easy I burn.

[He isn't a pain loving sort of guy, he already knows that.]

Maybe that's how I died. Bizarre kitchen accident.

[On second thought, she probably shouldn't say anything at all.] That's, you know, the sort of thing that's pointless to speculate about. You're here now, all that matters now is the future.

[Speaking of burning, though.]

Did I ever tell you what I could do now? I can warm things up, it's my god power or whatever. Just don't use me as a space heater and we're good.

[He falls in line with the change of subject pretty readily. Though he might joke about his death, he doesn't actually think too hard on it. Shuusei just assumes he's the type of guy who doesn't like things quite that morbid.]

Future huh?

That sounds like a useful talent, Rei-chan. Do people pray to you for warm winters?

Haven't looked at the prayers in forever, so hell if I know. If you're interested in that kinda thing, you're welcome to sort 'em out.

People pray for some weird stuff.

Reika-san still sounds too formal, how about Hane-chan?

[He's not even sure if he's teasing or if it's just a comfort thing.]

I might see what it is people actually ask for. Maybe it'll be something simple I can manage to pass the time.

Then just "Reika." That's what everyone else uses, why can't you? [Well, except for that one guy who called her "fire girl," but screw him!]

If you can't call me by name, then I don't know about the prayers. Might be too hard for you.

Don't sound so disappointed, I'm sure there are plenty of other people you can nickname. [Not that she knows any, but it's now officially not her problem.]

—So. 'Bout what we were talking about earlier. You notice the prayer wall yet? All the way at the front of the temple, looks kinda out of place?

Yeah, so people just put their prayers there?

[It was weird and it did stand out but he didn't bother to look into it too much.]

... What other distractions you got?

Exploring, bothering other people, practicing shinki magic, and that's about it. I'm probably going to check out stores in town and see if anything interests me there too.
