[So at first you don't see much of anything but the camera moving around and going through an ornate chinese style temple.

The camera view comes into contact of a boy from behind. He's slender with short black hair and seems to be preoccupied with something that isn't visible on the camera.

From behind the camera, a long, dried up spider leg with a human-like hand attached comes into view-- sort of like a first person shooter video game.

Slowly, the grotesque appendage reaches it's destination which is the boy's cheek, then shoulder.

Jade then whispers in a low voice.]

Daddy long legs wants to play

[There's a beat of silence and then a loud screech erupts from Watanuki.]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

[Jade steps back quickly as six extra arms (making eight in total) shoot out from Guan Yin's body and flail about wildly, knocking things off of the counter he was just working on which happened to be making tea. The boy steps right into the tea and then slips and falls then squirms on the floor screaming while his extra limbs fling about.

There's no laughter on the other end, just an amused:]

Well that's new.

There is a somewhat confused, stunned, unreadable look on his face.

Good show man. Good job. ]

I'm glad I could have amused you, Baron.

S'not so much amused as stunned though, mate.

[ He's trying not to laugh, he really isn't. He's trying SO HARD. ]

The bloody hell was that about though? Is he going to be alright?

[Why are you trying so hard? Let it out?]

Possibly. Maybe not completely, but mostly.

He sprouted arms, though. Isn't that interesting?

[ Nah man. The last thing he wants is Watanuki not talking to him for a week because he couldn't help himself.

More confusion. More staring. ]

....that... prolly shouldn't happen though. First time? Or is spouting extra limbs something that's been going on for a while?

That's the first time it's happened.

If it shouldn't happen, then it wouldn't have, hmmm?

I think it has something to do with his godhood.

Yeah that makes sense...

[ Tapping his finger on the table in front of him. A pause and a confused puppy tilt of his head. ]

He's... prolly not some sort of spider god if I'd recall correctly though.

No. He's Guan Yin. When I first became his shinki and got the basic gist of what was going on, I did a bit of research on the deity.

Supposedly, Guan Yin has one thousand arms. So that means my lord is just shy nine hundred and ninety-two more.

If I keep this up, then I'll have fast tracked him on his way to full godhood.

[Not that he would...or would he?]

Blimey, that's brutal.

[ Cue single undignified snort. ]

Least you could do is give the lad a break! Poor sod looks like he's going into conniptions with how you're going on. Mercy for mercy, eh?

I suppose I shall let him be for now.

[Yes, he said for now. Who knows what else he has up his sleeve for later]

I'm his representative after all, so "mercy for mercy"...

[ He'll just chuckle at that. Mental note to check on his... friend... later. When he's cooled off, maybe. ]

M'sure he wouldn't fancy finding himself meeting death earlier'n necessary. Not that you could prolly kill a god though... it'd be likely you'd give him a ruddy coronary before that.

[Good thing a text reply doesn't show him laughing. He shouldn't be, but he is, just a bit.]

I don't think we have the same definition of harmless.

What did you do to him?

[Not asking if he's okay, he likely is.]

I merely scared him. He'll be all right. He's young and can recover quickly.

[ Well now, he's not even going to be discreet about the chuckling. He's been having a pretty shitty start of the month so this entertained him greatly, because he remembered who that screeching person was. However, the words that came out of his mouth were anything but nice. ]

Even on the network he's loud as ever. What a terrible joke to play on such an innocent looking person.

[ Yes, he said all of that with a straight face. ]

[Jade is a master in the art of sarcasm.]

You could turn down the volume on your device, but I had to hear it in person.

[ Good then. He doesn't have to be the only one that sounds like a total jerk. ]

Ehh? Is that so?

[ He'll tilt his head rather curiously. ]

I'm afraid it was a little too late for that. It wen off as soon as I turned it on. You shouldn't complain though, seeing you were the one that caused him to scream in the first place.

I'm used to it, so I'm not complaining. It's actually entertaining to see what decibel of sound he can hit depending on what I inflict on him.

[He just smiles oh so pleasantly.]

It sounds like you're using him for some sort of experiment.

[ He chuckles at the response. That's cold Jade. That poor God. ]

What can I say? I'm a curious creature. I have an ever growing mind that needs to be nourished.

[That poor god indeed.]

My what a scary man. Remind me not to get on your bad side.

[ He crosses his arms. ]

Nourished by instilling fear on a gulliable God. You must be rather bored.

I can't say that my bad side is easily reached, but that is a wise thing to do.

[Somehow Jade is scarier than his own god. This is an accomplishment in his book.]

You have no idea. I have tidbits of things to keep me occupied, but things are rather lax around here. I suppose there are other shinki panicking about their status, but I'm not worried.

Noted for the future, I suppose. I'm not the type to pick fights I can't win.

[ Especially when he knows little about the person at hand. Of course, the God isn't scary. People who are like that can't be scary. ]

I wonder how long he'll last. By status, you mean their memories or the status they must maintain here in this... world?

[ He's honestly rather curious to why Jade is so casually lax about it all, seeing Ichiru is eagerly trying to find ways to get his answers about himself. ]

[Jade just waves a hand lazily in the air in a vague gesture.]

Both. Their position under their gods, their lack of information about their lives and in some cases about this world as a whole. Also their powerlessness against other gods besides their own and all of that.

[Jade has never been the type to panic about things. Panicking never helped any situation as far as he's concerned.]

[ And even Ichiru isn't surprised at the hand waves. ]

You don't seem to share the same sentiments as they do in short. Is it easier for you to simply just discard a part of yourself?

[ He doesn't seem to understand Jade at all, seeing he feels rather weak and pathetic not having any control or grasp on his own lost memories. He knows as a Shinki that memories aren't attainable and even the God that he's using to his advantage won't tell him anything. ]

My, discard a part of myself? Nothing as dramatic as that.

[He shrugs a bit.]

This whole thing has only irked me in the slightest but becoming distraught about it all certainly won't do anything. The gods won't outright tell us shinki anything if they don't see fit, so it's up to ourselves to gather whatever information we can get a hold of.

Though honestly, while I'm curious about my memories when I was in the stage of life, it doesn't pertain to me in the now. I wasn't a shinki in life and I seem to have a wealth of general knowledge at my disposal. Learning about this life is far more important to me.

It wasn't intended to be dramatic.

[ Maybe he's a bit worked up but clearly, there was something about the whole topic that puts him on edge and he's not hiding it well at all. ]

That is true. It's rather pointless to try to get answers from the Gods. At least from what I've experienced. They're rather tight lipped.

[ He almost shrugs but doesn't. ]

I suppose putting it that way works as well. If only I were interested in this life.

[Ruri stares with a deadpan look for a moment, then readjusts the sound on her device.]

"Genetic manipulation? Some sort of mutagen? Nanomachines? Also, was that tea any good, ruining good tea is kind of a crime."

None of the above. From what I've read on the internet, it seems that Guan Yin has multiple arms. I'm guessing I triggered a development.

And it was probably good tea. He usually doesn't skimp on the quality of food and drink, but the sacrifice had to be made.

"Oh. I see, you have found a way to trigger the old state of the gods we are assuming the duties for. May I ask for the basics of your technique? Something like this does probably deserve more study."

"Also, the leaf quality can be ruined by a lack of skill. You would be surprised how few people actually know how to prepare tea or other foods well."

The results of my trick weren't exactly expected, but it is worth looking into. If there are other methods into tapping into the god's true form, I'd certainly like to find them.

My god is very talented in the culinary arts and tea techniques, so it is quite a shame that it was wasted. But ah well.

"It is a shame, though I admit, since my own domain tends to be knowledge it is a fascinating one."
