They're pretty advanced from what I remember too. This was only just getting off the ground and very expensive to buy. Now everyone's got one.

If you mean trying to write out words on them, yes it's always been this complicated - because you're dealing with a keyboard one way or the other.

Everything else is new, though. Used to be you only made phone calls, then you only sent people pages to their beepers, and that was only numbers not characters. Then it was text only after that. Now it's all this craziness.

Pretty much.

It's barely useful is what it is. Imagine a little piece of tech that buzzes when someone pushes a button. That's all it is. The only benefit was that it didn't have to be plugged into the wall.

Why? What do you mean why? Because humans can't read each other's minds, obviously.

Doctors, I think. So that they could get woken up in the middle of the night, or called to a specific room at the hospital, for an emergency.

Yeah but sometimes it's too loud to be heard or you're trying to be quiet. Or the connection's bad.

Oh yeah I'd never want something like that strapped to my belt, at someone else's beck & call.
