[Whoo, it's baby's first BBS post. Anon too, because he doesn't accidentally want to make his god look bad in front of everyone and he's not sure if he might step on some toes with the question.]

Hello. I am one of the new shinki. I have a question for the more experienced shinki although everyone is welcomed to answer as well.
Recently I was lucky to meet a god from my homeland. This god is well-known as a powerful god. Plenty of people held this god in very high regard; he had many devotees that prayed to him for protection and blessings, and many temples dedicated to his worship.
In my world it was usual for the average person to set aside offerings for the gods they worshiped. Would it be right for me to give him some offerings then? Although I am not worshipping him right now, it still feels slightly wrong for me to not give him any since he is such an awesome god. Yet right now I am a shinki that is serving another god. My god has been wonderful to me since I arrived here and has assured me that I am free to do as I please, but I can't help but feel some conflict in this situation.
What is the recommended action for a shinki in this position?
[There. The wording might be a little rigid as if he's trying very hard to remain anonymous, but otherwise the question seems innocuous enough. Honestly he's seen how the past few BBS messages have blown up from a few heated replies, so here's hoping that the message is worded carefully enough to avoid that.
He's thrown in a few modern words in there too, so that'll help shake people off the trail too. Probably only the god in question would know who this anonymous poster might be. ]

For one thing, if this god is one of the new arrivals, he is no more a real god than you are.

But still, karma flows from one life to another and although his current form is different, essentially he is still the same person.

I can assure you that they are absolutely not reincarnations.

Regardless, I still feel like I should do something. It is difficult for me to explain. Let me put this conversation on private.
[Annnddd...private away~! Anon kept on, of course.]
Where I came from it's expected for us to give thanks to the gods. Because he is carrying the name of a god that I am familiar with, intrinsically I feel uneasy to just ignore him. I feel like I am doing something that's quite wrong.
[private]
That's simply personal preference.
In our position, though, I think worshiping any god is inappropriate. As a living person, of course you would have given thanks and offerings, in the same way that our gods' living worshipers give them now. As a shinki, you serve, not worship.

this "god" stuff is a load of crap anyway
[Forever Anon]
If you're in someone else's house, then you adhere by their rules. The relationship between a shinki and his or her god is supposed to be exclusive. I wouldn't want to accidentally do something that's wrong for a shinki or that would irritate this world's gods and shinki either.

[ It's also her way of saying that he needs a life outside of being her shinki. ]
