Seeing as we're from different times and places (at least that's what I think), I'd like to ask if anyone can tell me anything about this sword. (see enclosed attachment)

It just showed up in my room today, stuck in a stone. I also might need some help getting it out. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

yeah I hope not.
Sheryl already has a few cats.
I don't think she'd be interested in getting anything that could hurt them.

I'd suggest keeping the sword somewhere the cats can't reach it then. Can't imagine it going well if they accidentally hurt themselves.

That's the last thing I want.
I can't pull the sword out of the sheath though.
It's like something's holding it in.

Do you think you need something special to unsheathe it?

I'm not sure
Kind of thinking it might be some sort of security system
I see sparks if I try to pull it out so that might not be the best idea
Maybe a passcode or some form of encryption might be behind it

In that case, best to leave it be until you can manage to figure it out. That's quite a high-tech sword there if it needs something special to unlock it.

Normally I'd be quick to be able to dismiss magic but given where we are, it isn't too far fetched an idea now that I think about it.

Your sword being high-tech is one thing; magic, another. Doubt you'll have worse luck if it's magic.

I might actually have better luck if it is.
There's more people here that seem to be familiar with magic over tech.
Oh well. Maybe it'll come to me someday.
