I'm not a guy, got it? I didn't think I needed to tell people that.

[From the raised hood, deep scowl, and tone of voice, literally no one could be blamed for assuming otherwise.

She's just hideously embarrassed after a certain prayer. But she talks, moves, and acts like a guy, especially when she's frustrated like this. Congrats on proving everyone else's point, Kido.]

If I get another school girl giggle, I'm never going out again.

Ohh, I see. [He lets out a small laugh, but nods in understanding.] I suppose it can be troublesome if it interferes with your work. And I guess it's a bit embarrassing for a cute young girl to have that kind of misunderstanding, huh?

It's not that. [She's not cute. People like Hajime are cute, not her.]

It would just cause trouble for my god if I got angry about it. [Yeah Kido. That's not a blatant excuse.]

[Yep, definitely giggling now.] Is that so? I suppose lessening the misunderstanding around here might help a bit with that. But not everyone you meet is going to have seen this, right? So isn't It better to just try not to be angry about it? I'm sure no one means anything bad by it. [Souji, that is not exactly a solution.]

[She didn't even think about that. This is going to happen more in the future oh no.]

I guess most of them don't, but that doesn't mean it's any better... I don't want to change the way I dress... [Kido it's the stance and the attitude, too.]

Well, you act pretty boyish too, don't you? [There's no judgement there, Souji being self-aware enough to know that he does plenty of things that probably come off as kind of feminine. A lot of "acting manly" seems pretty boring to him, so he just acts how he feels like and doesn't worry too much about it.] But I don't see why you should change.

Do you know why it bothers you? I mean, apart from what just happened.

Well... I guess...

[She doesn't want to say it. She wants to be a girl, you know. She doesn't mind being one. She likes it. She wants to be cute and stuff, too, but that kind of thing doesn't suit her. She knew that from the moment she woke up here.]

Just because I act a certain way doesn't mean I'm less of a girl. It just pisses me off.

[Souji slowly tilts his head, looking confused.]

But if people think you're a boy, they're wrong. That's something they ought to feel bad about, not you. What they think doesn't make you less of anything.

What people think about me is reflected on my god, right?

[Literally not it at all she's just really embarrassed by it all the time.]

We were stuck on a prayer today and we had to get people to try to come to a cosplay cafe. It was stupid all around, but I don't want people to think badly on him because of what they think of me. [Like... if she's not feminine enough what if that looks bad on Deku? It probably shouldn't, she's just making excuses.]

[Nope, definitely still confused on this end.]

But... you're not bad just because you're not typically girly, are you? [He bites his lower lip in thought, trying to make sense of it.] I mean, my God is about as manly as anyone can get, but he's not ashamed of me at all. So why would your God be shamed because he's got a Shinki who's a bit different from other girls?

[Her face is just getting redder and redder.] I-I don't know.

I just don't want people thinking I'm a guy, okay?! I don't think it's too much to ask.

[The confusion softens into sympathy, and he nods.]

I don't think I really understand that, but... different things are important to different people. If it upsets you, it's still a problem.

[He hums softly.] Is it embarrassing to correct people too?

The guy yesterday didn't even care. He said I looked better in the suit. [Pride is so wounded she's dying it's bleeding out.]

[Okay, back to bewildered, but not by her this time.]

Well, that's just rude. Who says that to a girl? I'm sure you could look nice in anything you want to wear.

Well, he stuffed my boss in a dress, and he had an even worse time of it, so that might have just been his personality.

[Souji makes an amused little sound, shrugging.] Honestly, that doesn't sound like a person whose opinion you should take very seriously at all. It sounds like they were the weird one, not you.

He put me on the streets in a guy's costume and at least one group of girls tried to hit on me.

[Kido. Honey. It's not like girls don't give you dokis anyway.]

Well... at least that means you're really cute regardless of what you're wearing, right? And as long as they're nice, people flirting isn't so bad, is it?

[Like he would even notice someone flirting like 75% of the time, but still.]

How was I supposed to respond? I wound up just letting them do it and not saying anything.

[Which probably looked really cool to them but was a raging moment of panic in her head.]

Well, you don't really have to react in any way if you don't want to - just acting friendly but not too encouraging should be fine. Unless you wanted to flirt back, I guess.

[Well, what does he know, maybe that was the problem? He's just being helpful here.]

Even if I wanted to, I don't know how to flirt! And being friendly might just encourage more of it.

[Kido's kinda bad at friendly anyway. The eyes of a dead, inorganic beast and all.]
