From: Oscar | Lugh
Date: May 9th

[The feed opens up with Oscar chilling out by the lake on his temple grounds. Even over video, it's clear the poor boy is feeling a bit awkward right now.]

So...I've been here for a few months now. And I'm somehow getting more people who want to follow Lugh--that's me, I guess--but I don't really know what I'm doing to make them want to do that. I'm just...answering a few prayers here and there? Is that really all it takes to be a god in this world? There's not anything else to it?

[He sighs, a little frustrated.]

I guess what I'm asking is how do you be a god, here?

[ Nanako peers at this message thoughtfully before answering back. ]

Answering prayers is a lot, yeah! If people hear that if they pray to Lugh and helps them with their problems, then more people are going to pray when they need help, too!

At least, I think that's how it works? That's how I started, too!

Yeah, for real! And maybe it's easy for us, but for the people we help, it means more than that, right! It's something we can do to help them, when they didn't know how to do it themselves. Didn't you ever have things you were worried about going wrong or not being able to do on your own, and someone helped you with it?

Maybe it might not feel like a lot to us, but the people who get the help they need to be happy, it means a lot!

I mean, sometimes I guess we can help with those, too. [ She tips her head to the side, looking thoughtful. ] But isn't that doing things they can't by themselves anyway? That's what most people pray for - just some help. Not amazing things. To them, getting help with something they can't do themselves or think is impossible is a miracle, isn't it?

[ Wow, she's seven now. ]

I'm still in school, too! Being a god's kinda scary, huh?

[ Rude.

But she understands what he's worried about. ]

It's okay, Oscar. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the grown-up gods! You just have to try your best. You can learn how to do it better if you keep trying!

[Nagi might not be a god but! He is happy to try and answer this question anyway!!

He is smiling brightly at the camera, making a peace sign.]

I don't know about being a god! But I do know that people respond to kindness! If you are kind to someone and they spread that to others, then more people will know how kind you are and keep telling more people.

[He frowns softly, tilting his head to one side.]

That sounds like how it works for gods too. If not, I'm very sorry!

[Nagi taps his chin thoughtfully with one finger.]

Hmm, maybe it's the same! But different!

[Helpful...]

Like how some people want bad things to happen, so if there's a god that does bad things, they'll talk about it to all the other no good people. Right?

[Nagi nods sagely.]

Yes, it does seem very easy! But maybe gods just have it easy! Like how someone beautiful like me thinks getting girls is easy~

[And he winks at the camera, Nagi no]

[Tilting his head slightly one way and then the other, Nagi taps his chin.]

I wish I could help you more, but I'm NEW still. So I can't really give you better insight. Sorry!

It honestly depends on the kind of god you want to be. It's been hard having different gods in my time here, but I can tell you that they've all been very different people too. The gods who are my friends too, they've been different as well.

Have you made any good friends here who are gods?

Mmm... okay! Well, that's an idea, then. Maybe you can try that first. I think if you make friends with other gods, you'll see the variety a little bit easier.

But you're so nice! It's not as hard as you think.

Yesterday a bunch of them all gathered together. Did you meet anyone new there?
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh. interesting.)

Answering prayers and defeating ayakashi is certainly part of it.

Do you want to be a god in this world?
reformedsinner: (fear the smile)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2019-04-21 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course you have a choice. If you don't feel any responsibility to the people who are praying to you, why not put your efforts towards your own goals instead?

After all, most prayers aren't answered anyway.

[No one should ever take Hakkai's advice.]

I see.

Do you think that's what happens to those of us who disappear? If so, I suppose it's an easy goal.

Oblivion, limbo... not destruction, at least, since we do reappear and some of us remember.
reformedsinner: (as a matter of fact!)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2019-04-22 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I prefer to think of it as realistic.
reformedsinner: (deduction)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2019-04-22 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily. What's so bad about limbo?

Really, I suspect that's the most likely option, since it seems that the odds of picking the same souls out of multiple universes more than once would be very low if we were being sent back to our point of origin.

People go to sleep and remember more about their homes all the time. I'm not sure I believe it's "going back." We certainly don't have trouble saying it's "remembering" for shinki, do we?
reformedsinner: (slasher smile)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2019-04-25 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
And, by and large, we don't actually go anywhere.
reformedsinner: (as a matter of fact!)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2019-05-04 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps it's just hard for me to believe that people go back home from Heaven.

I wouldn't worry about it too terribly much, seeing as you aren't truly a god to begin with.
fauxcalibur: (neutral)

[personal profile] fauxcalibur 2019-04-25 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Monotheists gonna monotheist.]

That's entirely up to you! There are some here who are incredibly diligent in what they consider to be their duties. Others such as myself have different priorities. Both approaches seems to be equally valid, seeing as I've yet to receive any sort of reproach.
fauxcalibur: (sparkle)

[personal profile] fauxcalibur 2019-04-28 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
There are so many things that fill my time! Centuries worth of books to read! Decades worth of movies and televisions to watch! More music to listen to and learn to play than I could ever find the time to properly appreciate!

For someone with a life as short as mine, the idea of an eternity to fill is quite appealing.

I didn't quite make it to 42. I suppose that's much longer than a great deal of people manage to live and so not something one should complain about, but there really was a great deal more that I meant to do.

Do you think answering people's prayers are important?
