What's a nora? Why does everyone talk about it as if it's a bad thing?

What do you guys think about gathering a bunch of us gods and shinkis to lure out a ton of ayakashi so that we can work together to finish them off? We'd be our own bait and trap since we smell so good.

Do you have an idea how exactly to lure them out? Coordinated effort of multiple gods can take down massive ayakashi, but I imagine fighting a horde would require more of careful planning and strategy. It's a good idea, in theory.

First we'd need a database of shinki and their vessels each gods possess, as well as their capability in using them in battle situation. Not every shinki is a conventional weapon, but they still can act in supporting role. There is also risk that gods with complimenting powers and strengths, might not want to work together due to bad blood between them. Additionally, some gods might want to work together, but they would be more useful in different team setup. Not to mention it would be best to keep them varied, depending on experience. Veterans in leading roles, but with few new arrivals around, so they can learn.

Anyone planning action against ayakashi on this scale, would have to keep all of that in mind. And at the same time, have enough authority on their own, to keep everyone else in check.

I figured we'd just gather in one spot and they'd come to us. Like a pile of fish vs one can of tuna to attract cats sort of thing.

It's fine to just wing it sometimes too. [NOT REALLY, but Yuya's so used to working on the fly and succeeding that he's confident enough to get by any situation.]

We won't know until we try. It would be good to confirm that place might have been affected by ayakashi recently, just to make wait shorter.

I don't know about today since I haven't checked in with my partner, but it'd be something to try if there's more who are interested.

If we're doing prep work, it's also good to know who has what power.

Indeed. It would make easier for everyone to work together. You can try and create a database where every god would input their powers and skills. But not everyone might want to disclose such information.

True. Even I'm kind of nervous sharing info about myself. I never did it back home, and my power isn't exactly the greatest.

It might turn out that more gods feel the same, then you would think. Personally, I don't mind sharing info about myself, but I can't guarantee the same for my god.

A nora is a shinki who is bound to multiple gods.

It's considered bad because:

• It could be construed as a breach of trust between a god and their shinki


• A shinki with a guilty conscious would be blighting multiple gods instead of just one


• Gods may potentially treat noras with less care because they aren't "theirs" and therefore are expendable


• This is absolute bullshit in my opinion, because being reckless with your weapon, regardless of who it technically belongs to, is always a stupid idea


• If you're stupid enough to do something like this, you deserve the blight you'll inevitably be tainted with


• Because the Heavens Said So

As far as I can tell, that last one is the predominant reason it's such a bad thing.

Sounds like the gods here need to be more open-minded. Which you would think would go along with being a god.

Old people are old, no matter where you go. My personal opinion is that I will not force a shinki to nora to me, nor will I mistreat any shinki who does become nora'd to me. You should always respect your weapons, even more so when they're individual people.

Yeah. It's better if everyone is smiling rather than sad or disappearing or blighted.

A noble thought, if not an impossible goal. Then again, unobtainable idealism does seem to be the norm around here, so far be it for me to be the one who squashes your optimism with the harsh truth of reality.

it's not quite like being in a real gundam i guess, but they aren't real so it's the next best thing

Would anything bad if a big group of ayakashi gathered in one place? Couldn't we gather them all into some kind of pitfall trap and then just snipe at them until they're all gone?

That'd be nice, but what would be the bait for the trap?

We could...put all the shinki in there, right? And then the Gods can all summon us out of there once the ayakashi are trapped.

Wow, that may actually be a great plan! [Sometimes simple is best, so Yuya can really appreciate the idea. Simple means it could sit under your nose and you wouldn't know it, which is something he often takes advantage of.]

But do you think anyone would volunteer?

I could volunteer! It was my plan after all and I think we would be able to learn a lot from it! Though, I don't know if just one or two pairings would work?

Even if you manage to lure out as many ayakashi as possible, more will replace whatever you defeat. If things were that simple, we would have managed to defeat them a long time ago.

As for your question about nora, simply stated they are shinki that serve two masters. This isn't something we like talking about openly, much less encourage.

I figured as much. Wouldn't it still be better to wipe out a lot at once than picking off a few at a time? Then there'd be a period of no ayakashi until some more are created.

They'll return quicker than you expect. If we were to launch an all out attack on ayakashi, we have to aim for the source

I can't stop you from talking about nora, but I will tell you what I know. Perhaps the value of a name doesn't carry as much weight with you as it does with us. Under normal circumstances, a shinki is named by a god. A god chooses and names a shinki. This is why most are loathe to be named by another god when they already have a name. They aren't randomly assigned as you seem to be when you arrive.

I didn't think of it as slaughter, but I guess that works as well.

I don't think this plan will start immediately. There's a lot of details that need to be ironed out.
