Maybe, maybe not.

I'm not sure I believe there's another force at play bringing us in that isn't part of the Heavens, but I think I believe it when they say they don't know what's going on either.

They're the omnipotent ones. Supposedly. I find it very hard to believe that this isn't all their fault.

I hate them.

I think if they had any real say, they would have sent all of us home long ago.

I don't blame you.

And why on Earth would they do that, given how much we do for the Heavens? The gods answer prayers and defeat whatever inconveniences they can, and we shinki are stripped of our memories and made to provide labor in exchanged for a prolonged posthumous existence. We're a net benefit for the system, don't you think?

If they dismissed us, we would not be missed overall. We may even be forgotten within centuries if not decades.
