[ Kairi sits in the shade of a tree with the Soulless Shinki temple behind her. ]

I've given it a lot of thought... and I want to ask if there are any gods out there that don't have any shinki right now.

[ She takes another deep breath. ]

I can't talk about it too much right now, but after losing my goddess, the first person I would have gone to... he's gone as well. I spent a long time weighing my options the last time this happened - maybe too long. I want to try to be decisive this time.

The first few months I was here, I hardly had a day I wasn't busy helping my god with his prayers or training with the other shinki at my temple. I miss that activity and those bonds, but I miss the impact I made in the lives of people on the Near Shore more. I'm a shinki so I can't do that as well on my own as with a god who will see me as a partner.

If there's a god who thinks that we could work well together, I'd be happy to talk with you some more.

Hi Ren, it's nice to meet you. It's funny - normally I'd be the one saying something like that to newer shinki, not getting an offer like that from a shinki so much newer than me.

With any luck you won't have to learn how hard it can be to lose your god or goddess, especially for the second time in a year.

[ She says it quite matter-of-factly. ]

Yeah, it's nice to meet you too. Things are okay on my end. I wouldn't be too happy about losing my god.

[ She taps her fingers on her thigh a bit, biting back a comment about just how much free time she's had lately. ]

I'd take hot chocolate while you're having your coffee.

I hear they serve great snacks....and plus there's kittens. I can't find a reason to say no.

[ Two great things for the price of one. Maybe the cats will cheer Kairi up? That's what Ren's banking on. ]

I helped out there once! I'd really enjoy going back.

[ Sure enough, the fact that there will be both food and animals is enough of a reason for Kairi to feel like it won't be that awkward talking to a new shinki instead of refusing to drink coffee at a coffee place. ]

Although... I guess I'll need to ask to borrow another god's temple in order to get down there.

My god is Ain. He stays at the hades temple usually.

[ it'd be nice if the name sounded familiar. ]

Ain... I think I know who you mean.

[ She'd only met him once and he spooked her out something fierce, if it's the guy she's thinking of. ]

But I don't know him well enough to ask for his permission.

[ Ren shakes his head and tries to reassure Kairi that it isn't an issue. ]
