[It's early in the morning when something like static almost sounds.

Then Lavi's voice comes on:]

Cardia--otherwise known as the goddess, Hel--is gone. [His voice sounds...almost emotionless, the crack in it being the only bit of emotion giving him away as if he's trying his best to hold something back.]

Nothing's left.

[Nothing. Not even Sisi is left behind. Lavi is quick to cut it off and won't respond right away.]

[Oh. Well. He knows that experience all too well. Chikusa pauses for a few moments, trying to puzzle out his reaction and how he wants to react. In the end, he decides to make a private message.]

....Somewhere to go?

Where are you.

[It's not so much a question as...well, a demand really, even if it's as direct and calm as Shun ever is. He knows how much Lavi cared for Cardia, and he's not going to let him hide away until the worst happens.]

[It's probably about an hour when Lavi does respond.]

[Because clearly, no one would bother looking for him at the school, right?]

[He takes his time in answering him.

He's not ignoring him on purpose, but at the same time---]

[He sounds reluctant to see anyone right now. Not in the mood and mind space he's in. But he knows that won't stop Shun.]

....Don't think I've managed to get enough to last me for a while.

[ Where can she find you for a big hug and maybe some other extra special treatment? ]

[He's being vague on purpose. Please don't hug him when he's likely to lash out. Or give him a little time to process everything.]

....I'll be fine, Kairi. Just...Just give me a little time. ["Please."]

[He's right that it won't stop Shun - his options are really just tell him or wait for him to hunt him down.]

Stay there, then.

[That's his only reply for now, but that's primarily because he's using that time to teleport to the school.

He's going to be searching every inch of the place until he finds Lavi, so it's only a matter of time.]

[Shun will most likely find Lavi in a classroom tucked away in a corner somewhere. He's chosen somewhere high enough to give him a good view on things, but also enough to give him room to hide if need be.

But Lavi is slumped over a desk when Shun does find him, forehead pressed against the desk while he tugs at his own hair. Flitting around him is his golem, worried about its master and there's only a few of Lavi's belongings with him. He grips his hair tightly, his headband tossed away somewhere.]

[A brief pause.]

You can come to Hakkai's temple. If you wanted. We have too much money.

[Is this your way of caring? It's a little weird, but flattering.]

[A pause.]

Hakkai won't mind that?

No.

[Just. Plain and flat.]

...Unless you want to stay for dinner, I guess.

[As tempting as it is to give Lavi physical support in this situation, Shun knows better than to touch someone like Lavi unexpectedly, especially when he's in a mood like this. Nonetheless, as soon as he spots him, he heads over to his side.]

It's me. [He says that much before he gets in close enough reach to be considered a threat. While he doesn't exactly feel like trying to pull up a chair next to Lavi is going to help, he does crouch down a bit so he's more at the level Lavi is currently slumped to.]

I know it hurts, but talk to me. About anything. [It doesn't have to be the loss, it just has to be something. He knows how easy it is to either withdraw or lash out after something like this.]

Mm. Just call before coming....

[If only so he doesn't accidentally get murdered, or the nekomata attack him, or Bon flattens him.]

Curse this Far Shore. They remove the worthy gods and yet the rabble lingers.

Hibiki doesn't have a word for the way she feels right now. So she acts on impulse, leaving a quick message.]

[ Just like Lavi had, Hibiki hangs up immediately. Why is she even.....Why did she just do that?

But it hadn't felt wrong. ]

[ Her voice is likewise pleading. ]

Lavi... ( Her voice is quiet, sympathetic, ) I'm so sorry for your loss.

( It doesn't feel like enough. )

Please... ( She starts off uncertainly at first but seems to find some of her courage, ) Please call me w-when you're free.

( "Free" she says but it's more like "feeling up to it." )

[ Oh. Oh, she knows that feeling all too well. She also knows it's probably not the right time for anyone to be alone. ]

Where are you, Lavi?

[ Sorey doesn't answer right away, wondering what words of comfort he could bring to his friend. ]

... I'm sorry. [ He starts quietly. ] Are you going to be alright?

[ It's difficult to imagine what life would be like here if Mikleo left... There's no way it would be the same. It's part of why he already knows that Lavi needs friends right now - and company, if he so chooses to have any. ]

[Doesn't the nekomata like him? He give it food!]

What's there to talk about?

[There's...so much negativity in his voice. Self-loathing.

Lavi had been a bad shinki. All he's ever done since Allen came and left was sting his goddess. He knows it isn't his fault that she's gone--this is Heaven's doing--but he still feels like something is trying to twist his insides and pull it out. He's done all that he could to be a good shinki, a good friend to Cardia.

His grip tightens to the point his knuckles begins to turn white.]

I know there isn't anything I could've done about it, but it still hurts.
