So how does someone go about getting a steady job when you're dead anyhow?

[Disgruntled, with a frown curving her lips down, the pink haired girl on screen is clearly frustrated and simultaneously at a loss.]

I don't mean helping to answer prayers or the like. I mean a REAL job where I can earn money of my own. I'm a super-duper good worker!

[Or at least she can be when it's something she wants. Regardless, she does try hard.]

But everyone keeps rejecting me because-

[She lifts up a finger]

One: I look too young to hold a job.

[Another finger goes up]

And two, I don't have any paperwork that I can provide.

[Head hanging to the side, she sighs]

Sometimes I can play my guitar outdoors and people will notice occasionally, but since we don't stand out much it's difficult getting attention to begin with. I've been looking forever and still have no luck! So what do people do to get around some of these problems?

My exemplar and god both hold part-time jobs so it's not impossible finding work. But looking too young might close more doors than not having paperwork.

What kind of work would you like?

I mean. Ultimately I want to be a totally awesome guitarist and singer! But even the greats had to start small at some point, right?

[So... she's basically willing to do anything at this point.]

I tried to apply to a number of restaurants and outlet stores. By this point, I'd do whatever. But I don't want to have to always depend on my god if I want to buy something for myself. Especially since having a passion for music can be kind of expensive.

That's really admirable, your goal and wanting to be self-sufficient. Though if your god is supportive, I don't think they'd mind helping out?

No promises, but I can ask my exemplar and see if his place has an opening.

What do they run? What kind of business is it?

And yeah, my god is pretty supportive! But we're both around the same age, and it feels weird asking someone my own age for something like an allowance. Plus it really sucks around Christmas and holidays! Since even if you make a gift on your own, you're still basically using their money for the materials, you know?

He only works there, he's not the owner or anything. But it's an ice cream parlor cafe thing so it'd be a serving kind of job.

I get what you mean. I got my god a present for Christmas, but it was with the money he gave me from his earnings so it felt a bit weird getting him something with his own money? Not like I don't help out so some of the money is mine, but still awkward.

[...Right. It's probably time to get on that part-time job train and earn her own income. Especially with Valentine's day next month.]

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean! Like...we don't have much choice. We really do need a god, or else we could get devoured out there. We help each other out, but having a little bit of independence and the ability to do something for ourselves should be okay too.

[She made hair accessories out of the materials she had at the temple for Christmas. And handed out a few of the magic stickers she received at the onsen, but it would be nice to save up a bit on her own.]

Thank you for investigating for me though! This would be a lot easier if I had made it a few more years. [Does this really mean she's stuck in such a young body forever?] There's gotta be a god of age or something, right? I'm going to find them, and make sure this problem is corrected!

[Technically, shinki do have a choice and a way of surviving without gods. However, it's knowledge that's dangerous shared over the network, especially to a stranger. Helping a stranger find a job is one thing, getting someone involved in information that could upend the order of the heavens is another. Still, Ginia frowns on her end, hating sitting on information that could help another.]

It's a good thing most the gods seem decent and everyone is quick to watch out for each other.

Eh-- for some reason, I always feel hungry here. Even when I'm done eating. But I'm not lacking for meals!

[Even if she does think she could eat forever.]

I need the money for things like booking gigs, music instruments, tune-ups, things like that! We need the right equipment for a band! And I want to be able to help contribute to our look and image, too!

[Goku might be referring to his own perpetual state of hunger or to all the shinki that have mentioned the issue to him. It's probably both. Goku doesn't really get it, but now he feels hungry too.]

Yeah! Ultimately I'm in a band and we hope to do well in the long run! It's the getting started part that's tricky. Since...expenses.

If you wanted to make some extra money, maybe you could play for a group of people somewhere? I know some places would pay you for that.
