[The video opens at a strange angle, showing what looks like a table-level view of a vanity with some cosmetic products just barely visible at the edges. Soon after, there's a flash of orange, and a blur of motion. The next angle shows a better view of the room in general... it's from the floor, next to a simple Western bed. Anyone who's ever been to Nuada Airgetlám's temple would recognize the treehouse walls, but only a few people would recognize the simple trappings of the bedroom. The vanity and occasional splashes of pink or floral patterns give it away as likely a young woman's bedroom, but it's not heavily decorated or embellished.

Suddenly, an upside-down face appears, perched over the phone as if ready to pounce. The kitten takes another swipe at the phone with its paw, only to freeze and look up at the sound of a door opening.]

Eh?! Akane-chan!

[There's a girl's voice from nearby, and Natsuru steps onto the scene... clutching a towel around herself with one hand. She bends over the phone and the other hand scoops up the kitten first.]

Akane-chan, no... that's not yours. You have to be more careful with-

[She halts suddenly, turning to face the phone. There's a full second or two before she gasps, her skin flushing a deep crimson.]

Ah-! H-How did you-?!

[She picks up the phone and quickly fidgets with it, ending the video feed for several minutes.]

[When it comes back up, Natsuru... is still in a towel, sitting on her bed next to an alpaca plush doll and clutching the tiny orange kitten to her chest. The kitten seems happy to snuggle up to Natsuru, and the faint sound of purring can be heard.]

Sorry about that! [An awkward pause, and she shifts the kitten to face the phone more.] Everyone, this is Akane-chan! Say hi~!

[She waggles the kitten's paw to wave hello, and the kitten seems to just let it happen.]

Akane-chan was just playing with my phone. She's really sorry! And, um, please forget this happened!

[She bows her head and the video ends abruptly. Not long after this is posted, the first video is erased, leaving only the video of Natsuru in a towel apologizing and introducing her cute little kitten.]

[Gosh, Natsuru is cute. Oh, wait, um, don't think about that, Patchy.]

Oh, hello, Natsuru. That's... not the first time someone's had issues with mischievous cats lately, it seems.

[Since it's just Patchy, Natsuru doesn't see a problem with answering while she's still in her towel. She just has to make sure this is a private call first...

And here she is again, kitten snuggling up to her towel-clad bosom and purring away while Natsuru finds a place to prop up her phone so she can talk.]

It's fine! Akane-chan's just a little playful~.

[Gosh, she's even talking in that slightly higher-pitched, overly sweet tone people use when talking to their pets every time she mentions the kitten's name. How can you blame her, though? Look at that precious little orange ball of fluff!]

I guess I should be more careful where I leave my phone now...

[~~Are you sure this won't just make people suspect more things about their relationship?~~ Well, setting the call to private is perfectly reasonable.]

They're much cleverer than I thought at first, and definitely rather mischievous... yes, you should perhaps put your phone in a more out-of-reach place.

[~~Let's be real, everyone will suspect things before they do.~~]

[Once she's set the phone down, she's able to cradle the kitten more gently and softly pet her head. Akane stirs in her arms but still seems content to snuggle for now.]

Yeah, I think maybe she likes the charm I put on it.

[She can't show it to Patchy now. But a cute dangling charm on a phone does seem like it'd be a magnet for a mischievous little kitten, doesn't it?]

She's been pretty good, though! I think she'll be okay if I keep things like that out of her reach. She's actually pretty quiet most of the time.

[~~Oh, probably.~~]

Oh, yes, that might cause the issue. Small, dangling objects do attract cats' attention easily.

But, I'm not sure you should take it off or anything like that, though.

Yeah. I was just thinking I'd put the phone in a drawer or something next time I go to take a bath.

[She's... intensely aware of her state of undress right now, and blushes a little. But again, it's just Patchy, so it's fine.]

That would probably do. I... don't think they're very good at opening drawers. [None of the cats she's encounter here are, anyway.

She's trying not to think about that, Natsuru. Please just... don't do things that'll make her think about that.]

I hope not! She can already climb...

[It seems Akane is stirring, and the kitten uncurls enough to place paws on Natsuru's chest, leaning in to almost poke at Natsuru's face with her nose. This makes Natsuru giggle softly as the kitten's whiskers tickle her cheek.]

H-Hey... careful, Akane-chan!

[It's difficult to do while holding the towel up, but Natsuru manages to set the kitten down before she causes her to accidentally flash her friend.]

[Oh gosh. Um, Natsuru, I hope you fixed that.

Good thing this is private, too.]

Um... Well, yes, it seems she's very good at causing trouble for anything that's out in the open...

[If she did see anything at all, it was brief before Natsuru fixed it! It makes one wonder what kind of things being out in the open Patchouli is thinking about, though...]

Y-Yeah... kittens are really curious! She's usually pretty quiet for one, though.

Well, that's good. I guess.

Maybe that means that said cat is up to things when you don't notice, though.

I guess...

I can't watch her all the time, though.

I suppose not.

Can anyone help you with that? If needed, I mean...

Oh, yeah!

Maria-sama and Uta-san are here a lot. I'm sure someone else would watch her in an emergency, too...

Well... if it comes up, I don't see why I couldn't also look after your cat.

[The thought makes her smile. She could imagine Patchouli being really cute with a cat...]

Do you like cats? You can come over and meet her anytime.

Cats are not bad company. Um, usually.

[That sounds like there's at least one story behind it.]

Cats are very good at getting to hard-to-reach places and breaking things. Not that I really think they intend to, but still...

[ A stunningly beautiful cat has pawed Hibiki's phone on, upon hearing other cat noises coming out of it. It has shiny silver fur, bright green eyes, and really long eyelashes.

A Hibiki cat is staring at you, Natsuru. From Hibiki's number. ]

[There is just a gasp, a long high-pitched gasp of pure wonder, from the blue-haired and towel-clad girl on the screen. Akane has wandered off, and meanwhile Natsuru just stares. Finally, she checks the name on the screen.]

Oh! Do you belong to Hibiki-sama?!

[Wait... that's an eerie resemblance. It couldn't be-?

N-No, that would be ridiculous! But... not any more ridiculous than anything else that's happened...]

[ The cat seems to consider this, then paws at the screen. This shiny thing had made more noise, before. It should make noise again! She says so.

Even her toe beans are immaculately-shaped. The hardest of hearts would not hesitate to boop them. ]

[Oh gosh, the cat's little paws. The toe beans.

She gasps audibly again, then covers her mouth with one hand as if embarrassed at the sound she just made. It's so cute!!!

Natsuru's reactions seem to get someone's attention, and Akane the kitten's head pokes into frame with a curious little mew, poking her nose towards Natsuru. She seems to be curious what the human's reaction is all about.]

[ Oh, there's the other cat. The Hibiki cat sets about kneading the screen, which makes the phone skitter. Which makes the phone prey. So she pounces.

The screen goes crazy as the phone falls off a desk and lands on its side, facing....a crumpled pair of empty trousers with a vest draped over them.

Hibiki's clothes are. On the floor. Next to where the cat continues to bat at the phone. ]

Ah-!

[Th-Those clothes-! Seeing Hibiki's things just discarded on the floor like that makes the image of a naked Hibiki from that time she graced Natsuru with her presence in the public bath jump to mind. Which, of course, makes her skin flush and her hand gently alight over her mouth as if to contain herself so she doesn't faint. Akane mews softly again, nudging her head into Natsuru's arm.

Hang on. The cat... next to those clothes... it's making her think of something truly ridiculous...]

Nya. [ The cat nudges into Hibiki's clothes and gets tangled up, falling over.

Its leg goes into the air and stays there. ]

[The video was odd, but Celty was about to turn it off until the kitten made its appearance. Such a cute face. She wanted to see what it was up to. The sudden appearance of Natsuru into the frame however made her fumble her own phone just as badly as the girl on the other end was.

She debates a while whether to send a message to her friend but it looks like Natsuru beat her to it.]

Akane is adorable

and um

[Headless blushing remains unseen to the network. Sure she's seen Natsuru naked before, but baths are different than candid towel shots and the unexpected nature of it has the dullahan well off her step.]

Are you okay?

[Nailed it.]

Oh! Thank you, Celty-chan! She's really sweet, so I wanted to give her a home.

[The second part confuses her. Celty is one person she doesn't mind seeing her in a towel like that, so it literally does not compute that that might even be a factor of concern with her.]

And yeah, of course I'm okay! Why?

I mean with being exposed like before. I can't imagine what I'd do if a video of me like that got onto the network.

But anyway I got a kitten too. His name is Shinra.

I had a towel! It wasn't that bad!

[Bad enough that she deleted the accidental video, though. Thankfully, Celty gives her something else to react to soon enough.]

Oh! He's so cute!!!

Is he friendly? Maybe they might like to play together sometime?

Um maybe. I guess they're young enough not to be too defensive about meeting each other.

He sleeps a lot though. Not in the lazy sort of way. I think he's just happy to be around me.

Oh, does he like sleeping near you too?

Akane-chan really likes cuddling on my chest. It's okay when she's not in the way, but it gets embarrassing sometimes...

[Natsuru brightens up seeing Elfnein's response. By now, Akane the kitten has gone off somewhere, but Natsuru is still relaxing in her room and wearing a towel.]

Ah, y-yeah! She was so cute, and Maria-sama said it was okay...

[She hadn't even planned on getting a cat. Something about this one just really made her want to take the adorable little thing home.]

Do you know anything about raising cats, Elfnein-chan?

I've been reading up on it and taking notes on basic care. So far there hasn't been any issues.

[Natsuru makes a thoughtful little sound in response.]

I wasn't sure I'd be very good at it...

But she needed a home, and I wanted to try.

What does Maria think of the new addition?

She said I could adopt one! And Akane-chan's a good girl, I think they get along pretty well so far.

[ Maria is one big cat so of course they'd get along. ]

I'll have to visit again so I can meet Akane, it's been awhile since I've been over to Maria's temple!

[Now Maria's a cat grandma! Or is that aunt?]

You should! If you don't come over more, I'll have to come get you myself sometime.

[Have a playful little wink. She's really fond of you, Elfnein, can you tell? (Also maybe practicing her idol perkiness, it's easier with young kids she likes!)]

Well if that's the case, my temple doesn't turn people away so you would be able to get me without any issues.
