Has anyone seen the shinki Bakugou Katsuki? His shinki name is Shouki (勝), and He was here until about two days ago, and it's not like him to disappear without saying anything. I called him Kacchan, but he'd probably shout if anybody else used it.

Please let me know if you've seen him.

[As soon as that post is up, Izuku can be found out on the city streets trying to figure out where his childhood friend went.

He died. There's no way that he went home- if he did then... then there's nothing waiting for him there. Izuku is understandably worried and chewing at his thumbnail as he considers where he could have gone off to.

Due to his distraction, he has no clue about the huge salamander-like ayakashi who's following after him and mumbling about how good he smells.]

There have been cases of disappearances, some of which are followed up by the missing returning without memory of the intervening time. If it's unlike your friend to be out of contact, it's possible that they've been affected by the phenomenon.

I'm sorry. I'll keep an eye out regardless.

I was afraid it was going to be something like that.

Still, I have to at least look for him. He was my shinki, I'm supposed to be responsible for him.

I don't disagree. I don't like the designations 'shinki' or 'god,' but partners need to watch out for each other.

[There's a short pause before his next question]

God and shinki are still weird ways to be addressed, but is there something in particular you don't like about them?

The power differential. It's unfair to both sides.

To seal someone's memories and tell them they're an object to be held by a god seems cruel to me. Just as bad is to be the one that has to bear that burden.

You're right about that, I think. But I don't even know how to get them their memories back.

But for some people, I think that maybe not remembering might be better.

[He watched Kido die at least a thousand different times. He wants to spare her those memories at least.]

[Axel's out on the streets too: he's looking for a job, actually, visibly uncomfortable in his brand new long-sleeved T-shirt and slacks. He's still got the boots on under those, though. There's a limit to how far he's willing to go to blend in, and finding new uncomfortable shoes is right where that limit falls today.

Plus, he hasn't actually got any money, so shopping is tricky.

It's the salamander ayakashi that catches his attention first, its little crooning mutter cutting through the babble of the crowd. It's only after he follows its gaze that he spots Deku.]

Hey! Deku!

[It actually takes him a few seconds to notice anybody's calling for him- and he still doesn't notice the salamander, too wrapped up in his worry for Bakugou.]

Huh? Oh. Axel?

[He does look over and wave.]

Check behind you!

[Axel's breaking into an easy jog, dodging the other people on the crowded sidewalk. He tosses nervous glances at the salamander ayakashi as he goes. It's big, and it's slinking towards Deku, and that's a bad combination for a guy who looks like he's out here alone.]

Where's your shinki?

But who has the right to choose that for anyone else? Who can choose what someone is better off knowing? It's playing god in a very real way, and that's dangerous.

[He looks up and- oh.

That's definitely an ayakashi floating above them isn't it?]

Kido's at home, I didn't think anything would happen.

They are gods. Not that anybody had any control over who or what they were going to be. Though it seems like people who have died are the only ones who've become shinki.]

While I don't think others should be in charge of what somebody knows, it seems like the memory wipe is unavoidable in the current system.

I don't think that's true.

I was a shinki. I'm not, not anymore, and I remember almost everything.

[He blinks and rereads that.]

Really? How did you do that?

Something very bad. By all rights, I shouldn't be alive after it.

I was somehow made a shinki despite already being a god of death in the first place. I think that played into it.

Then it would be a bad idea to replicate that for testing.

I had nothing to do with the spiritual world before I became Aidos. I'm not sure how many people did, now that I think about it.

Quite a lot of mortals were brought in, but there seem to be some that are comfortable with spirits.

There isn't much correlation between old jobs and new ones, though. My idiot partner, Tsuzuki, is now the god of sweets somehow. I've been placed as an interim library god.

I was training to be a hero at home.

But now I'm the goddess of morality, from what I've read. And a goddess that isn't particularly well known either.

I remember him. But I haven't seen him since the white day.

Are there any particular spots he used to spend his time in?

Great. So, tell me, how fast can you run?

[It doesn't look like a couple pebbles on fire will make much difference against this thing, no matter how hard Axel throws them. And punching an ayakashi is a great way to blight off a finger or two.

He scowls as he skids to a stop next to Deku. The salamander is curling towards them, fleshy purple toes sliding down through the evening air as if it were a glass sheet.]

Looks like it's time to book it.

[Where is the nearest shrine, anyway? Maybe Axel should've spent more time practicing his borderlines, but he still can't hold them for more than a few seconds at best. It's basically worthless for holding off an ayakashi.]

[He looks over at the ayakashi, and then up to Axel.]

I can make it across blocks in a couple of seconds. [He'll grab his arm for a second, sharing One for All between them.]

Let's go.

[He wasn't kidding, the kid is fast with his powers active, and Axel's free to tap into it just as well.

The nearest shrine is the way the salamander came from, but if the run, they're bound to find another.]

He likes arcades. That's where I'm checking first.

I suppose that an unpopular morality goddess would be a good choice for someone that aspires to be a hero. From what I've seen, it's like someone with a poor sense of humor chooses these assignments.

It's a little fitting, I guess? I'm a hero in training, so of course I'd get somebody less known.

I wonder who's in charge of them.
