First of all, is there a way to change the name one posts under? It's either what's there or anonymous, and I'd rather use my own name.

Second...and sort of embarrassing...does anyone else FORGET they have a shinki? In my defense, he's about as interesting as as a person as he is as a weapon, so I keep forgetting he's around...

Second: YES. I have forgotten my soulless one a few times, including when he got locked in a closet for a week. It happens.

See, I try not to use my powers around my shinki so I don't do that.

Yep. There's two types: soulless and ones with souls. It's easy to tell them apart, the one with a soul actually acts human even if they aren't.

soulless sounds a bit odd. aren't shinki souls themselves?

Try living your whole life with them and this place just giving you more.

It's more like an empty-ish soul, no personality except maybe a vague husk of one they had before. Mark must have been a bodyguard because he's sure good at guarding me when I tell him to.

That sounds like an easier thing to get used to than not having any special powers at all and suddenly gaining then.

The new one I got is pretty great so I ain't complaining.

Everyone's is different, which supports that theory, but yeah hope you get one with a soul soon. They're a lot easier to manage in the long run.

I assume yours must be one of the quiet sort? And I haven't heard of any way to change your name, other than to die and come back as something other than a god, of course.

Very quiet. Nice enough...just super quiet. never seems to have anything to talk about.

I think I'll pass on the dying part, if that's the only option.

I really can't recommend it as a method for getting a new handle.

Some of our new shinki are like that. I have one myself. My theory is they may have suffered some damage in the process of entering this world, although I don't know for certain, of course.

If you don't mind my asking, what is your real name? I knew a previous Ixtlilton.

Does your shinki seek you out, or seem upset with you forgetting? I mean, it's a lot to get used to, whether god or shinki, but so long as you're communicating, is it a bad thing?

I mean, yes we're designed to be partners and help and work with each other, as shinki and God or Goddess, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to view that relationship in the same way.

As to your first question, it might depend on how these boards are 'moderated'. I don't really use it often enough to know, but if someone's in charge, maybe they can help you change your display name.
