Since the seasons are prone to change, we should make songs to celebrate! You needn't sing if you are shy.

(You could also cheat and just share traditional songs from whatever world with her. Like she will know the difference. Sansa shifts to voice - because she is a little shy too - and begins to sing. The song she chooses is sad, but there aren't many Westerosi Autumn songs to choose from - and even less that she can recall. Autumn isn't really...a thing.

Her voice is soft and sweet - more contralto than soprano. She finishes and is silent for a few long moments.)

...that wasn't very hopeful, was it. I shall attempt to write one that is happier.

It was still a lovely song. And fall could use the attention - winter is much more popular to sing about, it seems.

[Not least because of the holidays that fall in the season.]

Is that so? [Maria sounds curious - a country that doesn't have transitional seasons sounds odd, though one that specifically doesn't have fall but still has spring would probably be even odder.] I'd say winter is...healthily respected here. We don't have as much reason to fear it in the modern day, but we still know what it can bring.

That seems unusual, though I suppose I'm used to the transition myself. [They could just have the transition without having a name for it where Sansa comes from.

Maria's voice becomes noticeably more serious after hearing Sansa's explanation.]
I see. I fought dangerous creatures in my own world as well, but they're far less widespread now than they used to be. I can't imagine the trouble that having them wander freely every time winter comes would cause.

That's very different to the winters here, yes. [Though based on what she says next, Maria figures summers must also last a while, if Sansa has never lived through a winter.] Do you store food during summer in preparation for winter? I can't imagine crops would fare well in that weather for years.

That sounds like a rough existence to lead, especially if winter lasts as long as you say. You can trust that it will be easier here, at least.

[The modern world is much better equipped for the hardships of winter, especially since food can be brought to and from just about anywhere in the world.]

Well, it's not surprising that some people would find even being given a god's position to be easier than what they did back home. It has been a change for me as well - I wouldn't call it a blessing other than more literally, but I'm certainly less busy here than I was back home.

[Not living a double life has certain advantages, even if she often misses it.]

What a beautiful song! You have such a lovely voice.

He paused, for a moment, because while he loved to sing, he was a bit tone deaf.

We have a great many songs about the changing seasons in Russia, but I won't subject you to my lack of staying on key!

Ah, it's quite a large country! Very cold in winter and pleasant in summer, although the parts to the far north tend to stay rather cool in every season. We have a lot of old traditions that can be nice, but there are some problems there just like there are everywhere else!

[He paused, clearing his throat in embarrassment.]

I'm flattered, but I promise, my singing voice tends to send people running!
