What's the best way to show thanks to someone?

Besides saying thank you. I want to do more for someone, but I don't know how.

Creative isn't something I'm well known for.

I would like to think I know them well enough that I can just know what they want, but sometimes I like to figure out other ideas. But I might take him out.

Well I hear they have restaurants or bars where you can participate in kickboxing.

It might be something interesting to do, at the very least? A change of place might help clear the air as well.
