I know that various gods and shinki come and go but how does one manage to keep others around? I'm starting to worry that I'm someone who shouldn't be a god. Any advice would be nice.

If you can't maintain a way to defeat ayakashi then isn't that a failure of being a god?

I don't think there's any surefire way to keep people from disappearing, it doesn't really seem like it's anyone's fault one way or another.

But, if you find something out otherwise, be sure to let everyone know.

But it seems like if someone is paired with me then they end up leaving. I thought the first time was just a chance event but now three people have left.

It isn't just you, people come and go here so quickly that it's bound to happen a bunch to some people with their partners.

Three times is pretty rough, though.

I don't know what I can do to improve though, even if people come and go quickly there has to be something I can work on to help.

I still really don't think there's any one thing anyone can do to really stop this kind of thing from happening. Maybe scout out partners who have been here for a long time?

I don't want to take them away from someone else if they've been here for awhile. It would defeat the purpose.

Shinki can work for more than one god, you know. I suppose it isn't the most desirable solution, but it is a possibility.

[alchemists]

I didn't know that, I assumed that they were always assigned to just one god.

[yousaytron]

That's true, but a god can give a name to a shinki even if they've been assigned to a different god. It's probably a lot more convenient if each shinki's only working with one god, but having options has its merits, too.

[alchemists]

I see, maybe I should look into it more.

[yousaytron]

There are bound to be at least a few of us who don't mind having an extra god to answer to, it couldn't hurt to try looking around.

It doesn't look good if a god can't keep others around? I think...

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Being a god is all about power and strength!

I don't normally give advice, so be glad you caught me in a generous mood. GET STRONGER. You either get trampled, or climb so high you can't get trampled any more.

How do I get stronger? I don't have many skills that are useful for direct combat.

Join a group of allies in a team attack. Even if one of them lands the killing blow, so long as you're part of the chain you'll gain a share of the experience.

How ELSE would you level up support and noncombat units?

I see, I guess that would makes sense for how someone on standby can still learn from the sidelines.

So what ARE your talents, then? Shopkeeper? Scientist?

What, with the awesome potions and stuff? Shouldn't you be buffing your allies and hurling explosives into the fray?

It doesn't exactly work like that.

Well, what DOES it work like then? Because when I think 'alchemist', I think 'explosion'.

We research what makes up something and deconstruct it in order to recreate it.

[badassfreakingoverlord]

So, uh... you research how to recreate some explosives, then deconstruct your enemies.

[alchemists]

I wouldn't do something like that, alchemy isn't for hurting others.

...Wait a minute. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the evil spirits we're facing here a menace to all of the people on this planet? Isn't NOT battling them hurting others?

[alchemists]

I don't really know... I haven't fought anything myself here.

So I think I'm starting to figure out why you're not getting stronger, there.

[alchemists]

But that's why I'm asking if strength is one part of why I don't have a shinki for long.

Oh, right, that was -- no, it doesn't have a thing to do with it. I'm the strongest Overlord there is, and all I have is one of those soulless shinki.

[alchemists]

Those are just as helpful as normal shinki.

Point is, if strength had anything to do with how they're assigned and all, I'd have some super-powerful shinki, not just an ordinary soulless one. So your strength isn't important for that. The system's just goofy.

So part of the blame should be on the system, that's what you're getting at correct?/span>

Yeah, that's the gist.

You still should try to get stronger though.

Outside of the issue with shinki the system in place here hasn't given me any problems.

It's not a matter of the system. It's a matter of personal pride. The weak get used and mistreated, the strong rule and live their lives the way they please.

[alchemists]

That might be the case in most situations but I don't understand how it effects my pride outside of people leaving.

Uh, do you like being weak? Do you like anyone being able to push you around? Do you like having to worry that not being strong is causing you trouble? Look at me -- I'm strong, so if I was in your place, I wouldn't have worried for a second the way you did.

If I get stronger then I can just ignore everything? Isn't that just ignoring the real issues though?

You don't IGNORE things because you have self-confidence. You just don't blame yourself.
