[The other good thing about it is that while Kija would not hesitate to do anything it might take to save a friend, some things are considerably more difficult to face than others. Armies are one thing. Spiders are quite another.

[Not that their situation is particularly pleasurable without the spiders, of course.]

That, I am afraid, continues entirely unabated. I cannot think how we are to stop it.

I know. To refuse cooperation is to deny help to those in need at no favor to the help we need to offer elsewhere. There's no win.

If there were only a way to assist that did not involve enslaving others for the sake of a... a sword, or a breastplate or a - a pair of shoes!

[Kija hardly knows how to use a sword, though the sharp end is held away from one. And he has no need for a weapon either, thank you! Not while his own Gods - who are far superior in every way - have already seen fit to bless him.]

Why must we not fight for ourselves? Is that not far more noble an aim?
